GATE 2019: 3 Things to Do a Day Before the Exam

GATE 2019 is just around the corner. Feeling those butterflies in your stomach? Having that urge to just hide under the rock and avoid the inevitable? Well, all the students who are going to appear for GATE 2019 are feeling the same. The fear of forgetting all the formulas in the exam room is mutual and common among the students. Calm down, relax and take a deep breath. The second leg of the GATE 2019 exam is going to be conducted this weekend. Students from Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Civil Engineering are going to face those dreaded 3 hours this weekend.

We are with you and here we will talk about the essential things to be done a day before the exam. These things will help you in keeping yourself relaxed and maintaining the right composure during the duration of the exam. The feeling of anxiety and fear a day before the exam is very natural and there is no point in suppressing it. However, you should refrain from the dreaded act of overthinking as it will eat up on your confidence and render you demotivated at just the wrong time.

Have a strong belief in yourself and keep yourself motivated till the last moment. Preparation without proper execution simply negates the effort that you have put in your preparation. So, let’s talk about few essential things you need to do to nail this exam by executing the strategy as you had planned before GATE 2019.

Strategize:

We all know how important it is to memorize all the formulas for GATE. However, GATE requires more analytical and application skills. Students make this blunder of keeping the last for just mugging all the formulas. They feel this will them in recalling those formulae the next day. Sounds like a great plan. Yes? No. The smart candidates, the ones who will get a double digit or a single digit rank, keep the last day to strategize about the next day. You should have a set plan for tackling the question paper.
You must have practiced this while giving the Online Test Series. Now is the time to sit down, calm yourself down and think about that strategy once again. Think about the things that worked for you and the things that didn’t. Make a robust plan and prepare your brain for the same. Your brain needs a certain amount of tranquility to get prepared for the final battle. So just rest and keep rehearsing for the exam in your brain.

Essentials:

Make sure you have all the essentials with you a day before the exam. Get the print out of your admit card on a day before the exam. Most preferably, do it the morning itself as the outlets for print outs get crowded in the evening as everyone is there to get the print out. Read the admit card carefully to know about the specific details related to the exam like the time of reporting and what is allowed and not allowed in the exam. It is always advisable to visit your exam center beforehand so that you will know exactly how much time it will take to reach that place. These are very small and specific details and by paying attention to them, you can avoid the unnecessary panic on the day of the exam.

Your Body Needs Attention Too:

Among all the chaos and panic created due to the pressure of the exam, the first thing that all the students tend to neglect is to take care of their body. In the above two points we talked about the ways to keep the mind calm and to maintain composure on the day of the exam. However, we need to keep our bodies in a sound condition to be able to give our best performance on the next day. The night before the exam and the morning on the day of the exam are the two crucial periods where you have to take special care of yourself to be in the best frame of mind. Make sure you eat healthy and nutritious food in your dinner and in the morning breakfast. Go for walks and relax yourself. Go to bed early in the night so that you can have ample amount of sleep before the exam. Sacrificing sleep a day before the exam to read something new or revising things that you have already revised a lot of times, is a very bad idea. Take proper care of yourself and make sure that you go fresh and healthy into the exam room.

You are going to give your best shot and prepare yourself for the same. You have done all that was needed for this exam and let no one tell you otherwise. You have given this one year for preparing for this one day and this is what it has come down to. The one who can keep himself focused and execute the strategy in the exam hall efficiently is the one who is going to win the game. We believe that if you have given your time to read this article, then you are one of them. You are going in the right direction and we are always there to guide you. Just do the things we talked about in this article and rest assured that you will be all set to tackle this exam with all your potential. These small tips and tricks will give you a certain edge over your competitors. Because a war is won through a lot of small battles before the actual war is fought.
