How to Apply for GATE 2027?
The GATE 2027 application form will be tentatively released in the month of August 2026 on the official website. This year GATE 2027 will be conducted by IIT Madras. For the GATE 2027, candidates can apply through the official portal, i.e., GOAPS (GATE online application processing system)
Candidates can follow these steps for the GATE 2027 application form:-
- Visit the official portal, i.e., GOAPS (GATE online application processing system)
- If you are a new user, then you must create a new account before the application form.
- Complete the registration form and enter all the valid credentials such as name, email address, mobile number and residential address. Now, create the strong password and, at the end, submit the application form.

GATE Registration Fees
Basically, the GATE registration fees vary from category to category and number of papers selected by the candidates. GATE registration fees per paper are Rs. 1000 for the female candidates and SC/ST/PwD students. For all the other candidates GATE registration fees are Rs 2000 per paper. If you apply for the registration after the last date, then the candidate needs to pay Rs. 500.

GATE 2027 Syllabus
Basically, the GATE 2027 syllabushas been divided into the 3 categories, i.e., general aptitude, engineering mathematics, and domain-specific. GATE 2027 will be conducted for 30 test papers. A candidate is allowed to appear in either one or upto two test papers. General aptitude: General aptitude under the GATE examination is of 15 marks. This section consists of questions from the logical reasoning, verbal ability, general English, reading comprehension, numerical ability, quantitative aptitude and data interpretation. Engineering mathematics: Engineering mathematics under the GATE examination is of 13 marks, this section consist of questions from linear algebra, calculus, differential equations, probability theory and statistics and numerical methods. Domain-specific (core subject): The major portion of the examination depends on the domain or subject which is selected by the candidates. The domain specific is of 72 marks. GATE 2027 Exam Pattern
GATE 2027 exam pattern will be as follows:-
- The mode of the examination will be online, and the test will be conducted in the English language.
- The GATE 2027 examination duration will be of 3 hours
- There are 30 subjects under the GATE 2027 examination.
- There will be 2 sections under the GATE examination, i.e., general aptitude and domain selected by the candidate.
- The examination will include MCQ-based questions, multiple-select questions and numerical-answer-type questions.
- Each question is of 1 marks or 2 marks
- There will be negative marking for each wrong answer. For 1-mark type MCQ questions, ⅓ of the marks will be deducted for each wrong answer. For 2-mark types of MCQ questions, ⅔ will be deducted for each wrong answer. No negative marks for the multiple-selection questions and numerical-based questions.
- There will be partial marks for multiple-selection questions.

GATE 2027 will be conducted by the IIT Madras.
