For the NIC recruitment process 2026, there will no examination or interview conducted for the post of the scientific and technical assistant – A recruitment. The NIC selection process is very simple, and it includes the following: –
- The candidate must have the valid GATE score card. Equal weightage will be given to 2024, 2025 and 2026 scores
- A category-wise merit list will be prepared for each discipline in the order of GATE scores.
- The candidates who have fulfilled the eligibility criteria and have registered on the portal of NIC shall be considered for the recruitment process.
- Candidates who will be shortlisted will be called for the document verification process before the provisional appointment
- In case, the candidate do not appear for the document verification on specified date, time and place, he/ she shall not be allowed to provisional appointment and the candidature will be cancelled.
- After the document verification, candidates will be offered a provisional appointment, subject to the fulfilment of all other eligibility criteria prescribed for the post.
NIC Salary Structure
The candidates who are selected will be appointed as the scientific or technical assistant, group B S&T (non-gazetted) post in the Level 6, 7th CPC pay matrix. The pay scale will be from Rs. 35,400 to 1,12,400 per month. The basic pay will be Rs. 35,400 per month. The candidates will get other allowances as well, such as dearness allowance and house rent allowance.
The selected candidates can be posted anywhere in India or occasionally outside India. NIC operates projects across different ministries, states and districts nationwide.
