Abhay Singh – AIR 1 Civil Engineering (CE)

Abhay Singh secured AIR 1 in civil engineering. A graduate in civil engineering from NIT Jalandhar, Abhay hails from the Chandauli district of Uttar Pradesh. He was a student of MADE EASY’s GATE + ESE Classroom Course 2025 and ESE Mains Course 2025. Abhay Singh also joined the GATE and ESE Test Series of MADE EASY. Before securing Rank 1 in GATE Civil Engineering 2025, Abhay secured rank 1650 in GATE Civil Engineering 2024. He preferred offline classes due to the classroom environment.

Abhay adopted a multiple revision strategy in which he used to revise classroom notes 5-7 times after attending the MADE EASY classroom course. He also focused on solving previous year questions and workbook questions during revision. He mentioned that he used to study 6-7 hours daily after coaching.

Abhay also focused on analyzing the mock tests after attempting them. He avoided other reference books and used to rely on MADE EASY notes and theory books for conceptual clarity. He also focused on relaxation techniques, which helped him to overcome the exam stress. He offered multiple answer verification techniques to the aspirants. With multiple mock test attempts, he developed the time management skills that he utilized in GATE. He emphasized solving the easy questions of the technical section in the first attempt, then the aptitude part, and then he solved the complex/difficult questions. Harshvardhan Singh – AIR 2 Civil Engineering (CE)

IIT Patna graduate Harshvardhan Singh from Mahoba district, UP, secured AIR 2 in the GATE Civil Engineering. He completed his graduation in civil engineering in the year 2024. Harshvardhan began his GATE preparation in the second year and attempted GATE for the first time in the third year of engineering. In the fourth year, he enrolled in MADE EASY’s postal course but didn’t achieve the desired results. Hence, he moved to Delhi, enrolled in MADE EASY offline classes, and restarted his GATE preparation. He joined J-Batch of MADE EASY’s IGNOU Road center. Fewer job opportunities in the private sector in comparison to the government sector were his main motivation.

Harshvardhan relied on his handwritten classroom notes. He used to write important points mentioned in the classroom on the left or right side of the page. He used to revise on a daily basis, solve topic-wise previous year questions and workbook along with the classes. He advises aspiring students to do the same. He also suggests that short notes should be made while attending the classes. He offered some tips to the future aspirants that he used to follow himself, like analyzing the mock tests after attempting them and noting down the mistakes and trying not to repeat them in the future, not getting demotivated, and focusing on studies. Pankaj Meena- AIR 3 Civil Engineering (CE)

Pankaj graduated in civil engineering from IIT BHU in 2023 and secured AIR 3 in the GATE exam. Pankaj belongs to the Bundi district of Rajasthan. He has secured 84.5 marks in GATE Civil Engineering in 2025. Prior to that, he has secured rank 14 in GATE Civil Engineering 2024.

Pankaj has been with MADE EASY since 2022. In 2024, he joined MADE EASY’s one-year offline classroom foundation course for GATE and ESE. He has also joined QRC and test series for GATE and ESE. In the topper’s talk, he mentioned that solving conventional problems of ESE helped him solve 2-mark questions of GATE.

Pankaj relied solely on the classroom notes. During class he used to divide the page into two parts. In one part he used to write the classroom notes, while in the second part he used to write his understanding of that topic during revision. This approach helped him in solving numerical questions. He also recommends writing the formulas while solving the PYQs with every question, no matter how many times they are repeated. This helps in retaining the formulas for a longer time. He used to study daily for 3 to 4 hours along with his job. He suggested that students should prioritize classroom notes, practice numerical problems that are solved in the class, and then attempt workbook problems; thereafter, aspirants should solve previous year questions of the last 5 years without checking the solution.

He advised the students to solve the paper in two attempts: in the first attempt, students should solve the easy questions, and in the second attempt, difficult questions should be solved. He also advised students not to avoid the English and aptitude section and to prepare formula notes.
