GATE 2025 Preparation Tips
1. GATE Syllabus
For those students who have already begun their preparation, we hope you know the syllabus, and for those who haven’t, now is a good time to take a look at the syllabus and begin your journey towards GATE 2025. Being thorough with the GATE syllabus is the most important GATE preparation tip that every student must follow. Without knowing the exam, you can never think of cracking the exam or starting your preparation. So make sure you go through the syllabus of the stream you will be appearing in. While you cannot remember every topic of each subject, paste the sheet in front of your table.
2. Books
Having gone through the syllabus, we now require appropriate books for studying. You can either search online or watch toppers talk to get a fair idea of which books to read. One can also join a coaching institute for their preparation. The coaching institutes help in providing the candidates with study material and guidance with the help of the best faculty members. The R&D teams in coaching help keep the study material up-to-date so that the students do not have to read multiple books. If there is no coaching nearby, one can also opt for just the postal study package of the coaching, which is delivered to the candidate’s address.
3. Notes
Once you have finalized the books and made a decision about joining a coaching program or not, we should talk about making notes. Making notes is extremely important for this exam. The GATE exam tests the conceptual clarity of the student in his or her particular stream, which is why the questions are either concept-based or application-based. For this, it is necessary that you have notes on all the concepts so that revision before the exam is easy.
Whether you are studying from home and reading books on your own or sitting in coaching and listening to the teacher explain, you have to make notes. While making notes, merely copying what is written on the book or the white board is stupidity. You must make notes in a language that you can easily understand with the help of sign language and highlight the important points. Make your notes in such a way that you do not have to refer to your books again.
4. GATE previous year papers
Previous year papers help you get an idea of what the exam expects of you, so one of the important GATE preparations is to make sure that you go through the GATE previous year papers. Once your syllabus is complete, you can revisit these papers and time yourself.
5. Do not leave Aptitude
Normally, students tend to ignore the aptitude part of the examination and concentrate fully on the technical one. They believe aptitude is too easy to handle, but what they forget is that good marks in aptitude will ensure a better rank in GATE. Therefore, do not leave the general aptitude for the last day and keep practicing it right from the first day.
6. Revision
Completing the GATE syllabus before the GATE 2025 examination is a great idea but remembering all of it is not possible. This is where revision comes into picture. While forming a plan for preparation, remember to include revision. The revision will include two things
- Revising notes: Whatever notes you have made, whether in class or at home, make sure you revise them subject-wise every day.
- Practice test: Another important way of revising is a practice or mock test. These tests must be timed and given in the same way that the GATE examination is conducted. Every year, coaching institutes release test series for various examinations. You can opt for the best one and start giving their tests for revision.
Remember not to overdo the practice tests; it is important to revise what you have read instead of just reading things and doing tests from every place. So even for the tests, revise them before you go for the final examination.
Benefits of the GATE examination:
Cracking the GATE examination is a dream for many engineering students, and they start preparation in college. GATE opens various career options for students and is thus the most sought-after examination.
The benefits of cracking the GATE examination are:
