POWERGRID (Power Grid Corporation of India Limited) is a Maharatna Public Sector Enterprise that ranks among the world’s biggest transmission utilities, operating under the Ministry of Power, Government of India. Its responsibilities include managing the entire Inter-State Transmission System and planning, coordinating, supervising, and enhancing power transmission. As of 31st July 2025, POWERGRID manages 286 substations and approximately 1,80,849 circuit kilometres of transmission lines. With its extensive network, POWERGRID transmits about half of the nation’s electricity.
POWERGRID is inviting experienced professionals in Transmission and Telecommunication Systems to join on a fixed-term contract for its ongoing and upcoming projects across various regions and subsidiaries. The engagement will initially be for 24 months or until the completion of the project, whichever comes first. Depending on project needs, the contract may be extended annually for up to three more years, with a maximum tenure of five years in total. This opportunity is contractual and does not claim any right to permanent employment with POWERGRID.

Relaxation and Concessions
Reservation/Relaxation/Concession
- Applicable to OBC (NCL), EWS, SC, ST, ExSM, PwBD, and Victims of Riots as per Government of India directives for posts reserved for respective categories.
Relaxation in Marks (Essential Qualification)
- For SC/ST/PwBD/ExSM candidates: Qualifying marks relaxed to pass marks (only if the post is reserved for the respective category).
PwBD Eligibility
- Only persons with not less than 40% disability in the relevant category are eligible for PwBD benefits.
Relaxation in Upper Age Limit
- OBC (NCL): 3 years (for reserved posts).
- SC/ST: 5 years (for reserved posts).
- PwBD:
- 10 years for UR/EWS,
- 13 years for OBC (NCL),
- 15 years for SC/ST (for reserved posts).
- Ex-Servicemen/DESM: As per Government directives – relaxation equal to service period, provided resultant age does not exceed the maximum age limit by more than 3 years.

Conditions for Reservation/Relaxation/Concession
- EWS: Latest EWS Certificate in prescribed format from Competent Authority at the time of application and verification. Must be based on FY 2024–25 income and issued on/after 01.04.2025.
- OBC (NCL): Valid certificate in prescribed format, issued by Competent Authority, for appointments under Govt. of India. Certificate must be based on income for FY 2022–23, 2023–24, 2024–25, and issued on/after 01.04.2025.
- SC/ST: Caste Certificate in prescribed format issued by Competent Authority.
- PwBD: Disability Certificate issued by Government Medical Board.
- Ex-Servicemen/DESM: Discharge certificate in prescribed format. If Armed Forces service experience is equated with qualification, candidate must produce a certificate from Armed Forces confirming equivalency. Without this, candidature will not be considered.
- Victims of Riots: Age relaxation cum domicile certificate issued by Competent Authority.
Translation of Certificates
- If caste/category certificate is issued in a language other than Hindi or English, a certified translation in Hindi or English must be produced at the time of Document Verification.
Armed Forces Personnel (Ex-Servicemen Category)
- Must submit Form of Undertaking / Proforma Certificate for employed officials as per DoPT OM No. 36034/2/91-Estt. (SCT) dated 03.04.1991.

For Ex-Employees / Separated Candidates
- Eligible if worked as Field Engineer / Field Supervisor / AE(FTB) / JE(FTB) for at least 1 year in POWERGRID .
- Can apply fresh for Field Engineer / Field Supervisor posts.
- Must mention POWERGRID Employee No. in the online application.
- Age relaxation: Up to the period of service in POWERGRID, subject to a maximum of 5 years (over and above category relaxation).

Selection Process & Written Test Scheme
Common FTE Written Test – 2025
- All interested and eligible candidates must register for POWERGRID Common FTE Written Test–2025.
- Candidates must meet eligibility criteria including 1-year relevant post-qualification experience (as on last date of registration).
- Test will be conducted on a PAN-India basis in a single day for all posts.
Scheme of Test:
- Duration: 1 hour (extra time for PwBD candidates as per Govt. rules).
- Sections & No. of Questions:
- Technical Knowledge Test – 50 questions (based on B.Tech / BE / Diploma syllabus, as applicable).
- Aptitude Test – 25 questions (tentative topics):
- General English: Articles, Prepositions, Vocabulary, Comprehension, Synonyms/Antonyms, Jumbled Sentences.
- Reasoning: Data Interpretation, Coding-Decoding, Deductive/Inductive Logic, Series Completion, Puzzles, Data Sufficiency, Pattern Completion.
- Quantitative Aptitude: Ratio & Proportion, Time & Work, Speed & Distance, Profit & Loss, SI & CI, Percentage, Average, Mensuration, Trigonometry, Geometry, Algebra, Probability, LCM & HCF, Numbers.
- General Awareness: Science, Social Science, Current Affairs, GK.
- Type of Questions: All MCQs (4 options each).
- Marking Scheme: 1 mark per question, no negative marking.
- Qualifying Marks:
- 40% for UR/EWS.
- 30% for reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwBD/ExSM).
- Language Option: Hindi or English.
- Test Centres: PAN-India (allocated by Management).
- Result: Written test score card will be available in candidate login after exam.
- Validity of Score: 1 year from the date on score card.
Post-Test Process
