RRB Technician Syllabus 2024: Key Subjects and Topics

RRB has released its official syllabus for Technician Grade I and Grade III. Basic Science and Engineering Physics fundamentals- Units, Measurements, Mass, Weight, Density, Work, Power, and Energy, Speed and Velocity, Heat and Temperature; Electricity and Magnetism- Electric Charge, Field, and Intensity, Electric Potential and Potential Difference, Simple Electric Circuits, Conductors, Non-conductors/Insulators, Ohm’s Law and its Limitations, Resistances in Series and Parallel of a Circuit and Specific Resistance, Relation between Electric Potential, Energy, and Power (Wattage), Ampere’s Law, Magnetic Force on Moving Charged Particle and Long Straight Conductors, Electromagnetic Induction, Faraday’s Law, and Electromagnetic Flux, Magnetic Field, Magnetic Induction; Electronics and Measurements- Basic Electronics, Digital Electronics, Electronic Devices and Circuits, Microcontroller, Microprocessor, Electronic Measurements, Measuring Systems and Principles, Range Extension Methods, Cathode Ray Oscilloscope, LCD, LED Panel, Transducers.

 

Syllabus of Technician Grade III

Mathematics Number system, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Mensuration, Time and Work; Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics, Square Root, Age Calculations, Calendar & Clock, Pipes & Cistern etc.
General Intelligence and Reasoning Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding and Decoding, Mathematical operations, Relationships, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Conclusions and decision making, Similarities and differences, Analytical reasoning, Classification, Directions, Statement-Arguments and Assumptions etc.
General Science The syllabus under this shall cover Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences of 10th standard level.

General Awareness

 

 On current affairs in science & technology, sports, culture, personalities, economics, politics and any other subject of importance.

 

 RRB Technician Educational Qualification 2024

A) Bachelor of Science In Physics / Electronics / Computer Science / Information Technology/ Instrumentation from a recognized University/Institute OR B.Sc. in a combination of any sub-stream of basic streams of Physics/Electronics/Computer Science/Information Technology/Instrumentation from a recognized University/Institute

B) Three years Diploma in Engineering in the above basic streams or in combination of any of above basic streams

Degree in Engineering in the above basic streams or in combination of any of above basic streams
2. Technician Grade III Matriculation/SSLC plus ITI from recognized institutions of NCVT/SCVT in respective trades.

 

RRB Technician Selection Process

The recruitment of technician in Grade I and Grade III will be in three stages:

  1. Computer Based Test
  2. Document Verification
  3. Medical Examination

1. RRB Technician Exam Pattern 2024: Structure and Marking Scheme

RRB has officially released the exam pattern along with structure and marking scheme. Knowing the exam pattern beforehand will help candidates strategize their study schedule within the given time frame.

The structure and marking helps candidates to prioritize the subject and prepare accordingly. Focusing on the concepts that carry the maximum weightage candidates can work towards improving the accuracy of the concept.

  • The RRB technician exam will be conducted in Computer Based Test [CBT] mode, objective types with multiple choice questions.
  • Total marks will be 100 marks.
  • Total time will be 90 minutes.
  • ⅓ Negative marking for every incorrect answer.
  • No deduction for any unanswered question.

2. RRB Technician Document Verification 2024

  • Candidates will be selected through marks and merit in CBT for document verification.
  • Appointment of the selected candidates will be final only after medical examination conducted by Railway authorities.

3. RRB Technician Medical Examination 2024

The candidates shortlisted for document verification will be called for standard medical examination by Railway authorities. The examination will ensure the medical fitness of the candidate for the respective post.

      The educational qualification for RRB Technician Grade III requires Matriculation/SSLC plus ITI from recognized institutions of NCVT/SCVT in respective trades. For detailed information kindly read the official pdf.
