Note:
- Dependents of freedom fighters, ex-servicemen, and female candidates are required to pay the fee as per their original category mentioned above.
- Bank charges in addition to the application fee will be borne by the candidate.
- The examination fee must be paid only through the online payment gateway available in the link for Assistant Environmental Engineer and Assistant Scientific Officer Examination-2026 on the website of Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board uppcb.gov.in.
- The application fee once paid will neither be refunded/transferred nor held in reserve for any future examination process.
- Demand draft/cheque/money order/postal order/banker’s cheque/postal stamp etc. will not be accepted as application fee.
- If candidates wish to make any amendments to their submitted application, they may submit a second application (second registration) online within the prescribed deadline, with the revised information, by repaying the application fee. The fee deposited in the previous application will not be refunded under any circumstances and will not be adjusted against the second application.
Essential Qualification

For the post of Assistant Environmental Engineer –
A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering/Chemical Technology/Civil Engineering/Environmental Engineering from a University established by law in India or a qualification recognized by the Government as equivalent thereto. (Any equivalent qualification shall include a qualified Associate Member of the Institute of Engineers India (AMIE) in Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering branch).
Age Limit
- The minimum age of a candidate must be 21 years and the maximum age must be 40 years as on July 1, 2025. Only the date of birth mentioned in the High School or equivalent examination certificate will be considered for calculating the age of the candidate.
- A relaxation of 5 years in the maximum age limit will be admissible for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes of Uttar Pradesh, Scheduled Tribes of Uttar Pradesh, Other Backward Classes of Uttar Pradesh, skilled sportspersons of Uttar Pradesh classified sports (this relaxation will be applicable only to candidates domiciled in Uttar Pradesh) and employees of the State Government of Uttar Pradesh, as per rules.
- Ex-servicemen (Ex-Servicemen) who have served for at least 5 years will be granted a service period relaxation of 3 years in addition to their years of services and maximum relaxation will be limited upto15 years. Retirement from the armed forces by the last date of application is mandatory.
- Candidates belonging to the disabled category will be eligible for a 15-year age relaxation as per rules.
Selection Process
Candidates will be selected on the basis of a Computer Based Test (CBT) and interview. The Information regarding the date of the Computer Based Test (CBT) examination will be available on the link for Assistant Environmental Engineer Examination – 2026 at Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board website www.uppcb.gov.in. The total marks for selection will be 470.
The examination will be conducted in two stages as follows:
Stage 1: Computer Based Test (CBT) will be objective type and will carry 400 marks. The test subjects, maximum marks, negative marking, and time allotted will be as follows:

- Each question will have a total of 04 (four) options. There will be 04 (four) marks awarded for each correct answer, 01 (one) mark will be deducted for each wrong answer, and 0 (zero) marks will be awarded for questions not attempted. Question Paper will be available in English & Hindi. In case of any discrepancy in interpretation of questions, English version shall be considered final.
- A merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained in Computer Based Test (CBT) and the candidates from this merit list will be called for interview as per prescribed rules.
Stage 2: Interview carrying 70 (seventy) marks.
Selection: Based on the marks obtained by the applicants out of 470 marks mentioned above, the merit list will be prepared as per the provisions of the existing rules/regulations and selection will be made accordingly.
General Instructions
- All candidates belonging to reserved categories of Uttar Pradesh must mention their category in the application.
- The candidate will be given reservation benefits for the reserved category for which he/she applies.
- Candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Other Backward Class, dependents of freedom fighters / ex-servicemen, persons with disabilities and women candidates who are not domiciles of Uttar Pradesh are not eligible for reservation benefits. Such candidates will be treated as belonging to the unreserved category. In case of women candidates, only the certificate issued by the father’s side will be acceptable.
- Ex-servicemen and persons with disabilities will submit their claim on the basis of a certificate issued by the competent authority on the format prescribed by the Government of Uttar Pradesh, otherwise the claim made by the candidate will not be accepted.
- The caste certificate of such women candidates, in which the benefit is sought merely on the basis of her being the wife of a person belonging to the Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe or Other Backward Class category of Uttar Pradesh, will not be accepted.
- Candidates who claim to be dependents of freedom fighters of Uttar Pradesh should ensure that the certificates submitted by them are in the format enclosed with the Government Order dated 21st April, 2015 issued in pursuance of the Uttar Pradesh Public Service (Reservation for Physically Handicapped, Dependents of Freedom Fighters and Ex-Servicemen) Act, 1993 as amended and that the freedom fighter is a resident of Uttar Pradesh or He/Sheand the candidate is (1) son and daughter (married or unmarried) or (2) grandson i.e. (son’s son or daughter’s son) or granddaughter i.e. (son’s daughter or daughter’s daughter) of the freedom fighter, whether married or unmarried.
- Candidates who claim to be physically handicapped should ensure that they possess a disability certificate issued by the competent authority on the updated format prescribed by Government Order No. 5/2022/18/1/2008/47/Ka-2/2022, dated 18.04.2022 of Personnel Department-2 of Uttar Pradesh Government and the certificate should clearly mention the type and percentage of disability of the candidate.
- Candidates serving in the Central or State Government shall obtain a No Objection Certificate from their employer and submit it to Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board on demand.
- Male candidates who are married and have more than one living wife or female candidates who are married to a man who already has a living wife will not be considered eligible unless the Governor of Uttar Pradesh has granted exemption from the above restriction.
- For candidates to avail the reservation benefits, relaxation in maximum age and exemption in application fee, only the caste certificate of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes of Uttar Pradesh, Other Backward Classes of Uttar Pradesh, and for economically weaker sections (EWS) a certificate issued by the competent authority in the format prescribed by the Government of Uttar Pradesh will be accepted. For Ex-serviceman the certificate issued from the competent authority is essential.
