ROHIT DHONDGE- AIR 1- Civil Engineering
Hailing from Nanded district in Maharashtra, Rohit completed his B.Tech. from IIT Hyderabad. He joined the MADE EASY Classroom Course, Test Series, and interview guidance program. He secured all India rank 1 in ESE 2024 in the civil engineering branch. Let’s get to know his journey and experiences:
- He started his preparation for the exam in his last year of college and joined the classroom course after completion of college and moved to Delhi.
- Coming from a different state to Delhi was not easy, but he believed to lose his comfort over achieving success in ESE. He experienced several hardships, but his determination let him manage everything. He found similar mindsets in Delhi, which had a positive impact on his studies as well as support from his friends and faculty.
- Civil engineering is a branch that has a vast syllabus with theoretical and technical subjects. And so Rohit didn’t classify any subjects. He gave equal importance to every subject.
- For his preparation, he aimed to focus on PYQs while not leaving any single subject. His main source of study was the comprehensive class notes, short notes. He frequently revised them and attempted PYQs.
- He says that initially an ESE aspirant doesn’t know how to make short notes. Students can make long short notes, which is completely normal. He too experienced the same, so he was guided to have a strong grasp of those notes.
- He focused on the static part of General Studies as well as referring to class notes. He also referred to the General Studies and Engineering Aptitude 3300 MCQ book by MADE EASY, and practicing the questions was much easier than reading it. Also, test series were of excellent support.
- He strategizes to create a balance between non-tech and tech parts. For main, Rohit focuses on starting the practice of vast subjects, solving main PYQs frequently, as well as practice writing.
- Like any other ESE aspirant, he too was nervous about his interview round. The questions were situational, and the environment was friendly and conversational.
- He recommends aspirants first make the main goal—ESE or GATE. GATE numericals are very helpful in ESE Main, so one can prepare accordingly. He suggests solving PYQs as much as one can.
RAJAN KUMAR – AIR 1- Electrical Engineering
Rajan completes his B.Tech from IIT Roorkee and secured all India rank 1 in ESE 2024 from the electrical engineering branch. Rajan is from Mokama, Bihar, and is a MADE EASY classroom student, test series, and interview guidance program. Let’s know about his journey and experiences to score the expected outcome:
- After his graduation, Rajan gave the 2022 attempt and later started his comprehensive preparation. He says that exam preparation can be difficult, but the exam isn’t.
- He says that being an electrical engineering student, he focused on common subjects of electrical and electronics. Having an understanding of the subjects so that one can answer is sufficient.
- He focused on answer writing for the main exam. His strategy was to get aware of all the common subjects and strike a balance between the theoretical and practical. For prelims, he focused on theory, and he practiced much for the main exam.
- Rajan strategizes to study math, aptitude, and reasoning so that he can solve preliminary questions anyhow from these topics. He believes that high scoring must have been a great contribution for scoring AIR 1.
- For main, he preferred to solve PYQs, referring to class notes, and attempting test series.
- The setup of MADE EASY IGP and real interview round was different for him. He experienced practical questions, which he answered confidently. He says that his interview was lively and not at all stressful.
- He highly recommended GATE aspirants to solve PYQs, test series, and revise notes. And for ESE aspirants, solving prelims main PYQs as the time duration for the ESE 2025 in both stages is less.
HIMANSHU THAPLIYAL- AIR 1- Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering
Himanshu is the E&T engineer completing his graduation from Seemant Institute of Technology, Pithoragarh. Hailing from Pauri Gharwal district in Uttarakhand, he secured All India Rank 1 in ESE 2024 in the E&T engineering branch. Let’s get to know his journey and experiences:
- Himanshu is a student from the MADE EASY classroom course, test series, and Interview guidance program. He began his preparation for GATE and didn’t take ESE seriously.
- In the second year of M. Tech, he opted for ESE seriously with MADE EASY offline classes. He preferred an offline classroom for interaction and gave his 100% in his preparation journey.
- Being a GATE aspirant, he had comprehensive knowledge of the subjects, and so he wanted to get aware of the ESE subjects, which were not similar in the GATE syllabus.
- He enjoyed his interaction with his classmates and had a calm and fun mindset so that he could enjoy his new learnings. Although it doesn’t mean he didn’t face any stressful situations. So it is very important to stay positive and calm.
- His surroundings and people supported him a lot as well has helped him to stay disciplined. To stay updated on current events, he made a habit of reading newspapers daily.
- For prelims, he referred to class notes and MADE EASY books and majorly focused on solving 10-15 year PYQs.
- For main, he experienced similar questions from PYQs getting repeated in the exam. So it is highly recommended to solve PYQS frequently.
- For the interview round, he started his preparation a year ago as he wanted to improve his speaking skills, and the biggest support were his college faculties.
- He experienced a long interview session with around 50 questions from the panel members.
- For GATE aspirants, he suggests focusing on GATE preparation as it will be useful in ESE core subjects. As soon as the GATE exam is over, start your preparation with ESE prelims. And solving PYQs for the main exam will be very easy.
MUNISH KUMAR- AIR 1- Mechanical Engineering
A National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra, B.Tech graduate, Munish comes from Fatehabad, Haryana. He managed to secure AIR 1 with fewer vacancies in mechanical engineering ESE 2024. He enrolled in the MADE EASY Interview guidance program. Let’s know about his journey and experiences to score the expected outcome:
- Munish began his GATE preparation after completion of his graduation. With a good rank in GATE, he joined a PSU, resigning from his private job. Yet his hunger for more knowledge and opportunity led him to begin his ESE preparation. Coming from a humble village background, he managed to self study and cleared the exam.
- In 2021, he scored AIR 15 in mechanical engineering, and his passion to work in Indian railways didn’t let him give up the preparation. He again filled up the ESE form with confidence that IRMS would come back. And it did come back.
- Having managed to have a strong grasp on technical subjects but couldn’t manage the general studies part. His main source of study was books and solving PYQs.
- He observed that GS favors mechanical students. So having a comprehensive understanding of technical subjects balances the non-tech part. And he managed to clear the preliminary.
- For main, he covered all the concepts, PYQs, and solving questions from various government engineering competitive exams, which helped him secure good marks in main. So if one faces issues in the non-tech part, one should have a comprehensive knowledge of technical subjects.
- On the day of his interview round, he went through the latest updates and was fortunate to experience questions from that. He fumbled with the questions from the topic, which he wasn’t fully aware of, like AI and machine learning.
- He recommends GATE aspirants to focus properly on preparation more, as the technical part will be covered. And later for ESE prelims, focusing on general studies is a must, as from his experience. Later main should be the primary focus, covering as many topics as one can.
