The Gujarat Public Service Commission is a body responsible for the recruitment of suitable candidates for various departments under the Gujarat government. Candidates who have relevant educational qualifications and satisfy various other conditions are eligible for these recruitments.
The total number of posts in this recruitment is 279. Candidates having a bachelor’s degree in engineering, medical, and other domains are eligible for this recruitment. Selection Procedure
The selection procedure for this recruitment includes a preliminary test followed by an interview. The number of candidates selected for interview will vary from department to department. Candidates are advised to read the official notification for more clarification.
Application Fee:
Candidates of General (Unreserved) category have to pay ₹100/- + applicable postal charges or ₹100/- + Service Charges through online mode as Application Fees, while Candidates belonging to reserved categories and Economically Weaker Section of Unreserved category, Ex-Servicemen of Gujarat State and Person with Disability candidates have not to pay application fees. While candidates of reserved category of other states have to pay application fee.
Candidates have to give consent and pay the following Consent Deposit as may be required by the Commission.

GPSC 2026 Qualification and Eligibility
Candidates interested in GPSC recruitment 2026 must have completed their engineering degree in the respective stream. Detailed educational qualification for each post is given below:
- Assistant Engineer (Civil) Class II: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering/Technology obtained from any of the Universities, established or incorporated by or under the Central or State Act in India or any other educational institution recognized as such or declared to be a demmed university under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act. 1956.
- Assistant Engineer (Electrical) Class II: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering/Technology obtained from any of the Universities, established or incorporated by or under the Central or State Act in India or any other educational institution recognized as such or declared to be a demmed university under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act. 1956.
- Assistant Engineer (Mechanical) Class II: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering/ Technology obtained from any of the Universities established or incorporated by or under the Central or State Act in India or any other educational institution recognized as such or declared to be a deemed university under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956.
- Deputy Executive Engineer (Civil), Class 2: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering/Technology obtained from any of the Universities, established or incorporated by or under the Central or State Act in India or any other educational institution recognized as such or declared to be a demmed university under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act. 1956.
- Deputy Executive Engineer (Electrical), Class 2: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering/Technology obtained from any of the Universities, established or incorporated by or under the Central or State Act in India or any other educational institution recognized as such or declared to be a demmed university under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act. 1956.
- Town Planner: Candidates must have a degree in architecture or civil engineering along with a post graduate degree or post graduate diploma in City Planning/ Town Planning/Regional Planning/Traffic and Transportation Planning/ Urban Design/Urban Planning/Infrastructure Planning/Industrial Planning or Environmental Planning obtained from any of the Universities established or incorporated by or under the Central or State Act in India; or any other educational institution recognized as such or declared to be deemed as University under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 or institution approved by All India Council for Technical Education.
Along with the necessary educational qualification, candidates must have:
- Basic knowledge of Computer Application as prescribed in the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967.
- Adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or both languages.
Exam Pattern:
Candidates will be selected for appointment to these posts by conducting a Preliminary test and Interview. Candidates will be declared eligible for the interview after scrutinizing the required applications as per the Preliminary test marks. If the candidate gets less than 15% marks in the Preliminary test, he / she will not be considered eligible for interview. The medium of this test will be decided by the Commission. The Preliminary test will usually be held at Gandhinagar / Ahmedabad and candidates will have to be present at their own expense. The Preliminary test will consist of 100 questions of 100 marks of General Studies and 200 questions of 200 marks of the Concerned Subject. Total 300 questions of 300 marks. Time Duration of Preliminary test for General Studies (Part1) and Concerned Subject (part-2) will be 60 minutes and 120 minutes respectively. Hence, total Time Duration for Preliminary test will be 180 minutes.
Upper Age Limit and Relaxations
Candidates should not be more than 35 years of age (37 years in case of Junior Town Planner). Age will be considered as on last date of online application.
The upper age limit is relaxed as under:

Important Instructions
- The candidates belonging to reserved category can apply against the vacancies for Unreserved Category and the criteria will be applicable as per Unreserved Category.
- In case of non-availability of women candidate in the respective category (If reserved posts for women are available), the reserved post will be allotted to male candidates belonging to the same category.
- The One Time Registration (OTR) module only helps to candidates for filling Online Application speadily, which will not count as an Online Application. One Time Registration (OTR) module is mandatory, Hence If candidate has not registered for OTR yet, Kindly do OTR first and then apply online for the advertisement.
- Candidates shall carefully read Advertisement No. and name of post before applying online. Candidate shall confirm the application only after verifying the details filled in the application form.
- The online application is “Editable” till the last date & time of advertisement. Hence the candidates have to make only one application in one advertisement. If there is any mistake in filling up the details / information in the online application, candidate may go to the “Edit” option and update the details till the last date & time of Application and should not make a new application.
