NLC Careers: Neyveli Lignite Corporation Limited

  • NLC India Limited (formerly Neyveli Lignite Corporation Limited) is a ‘Navratna’ government of India company in the fossil fuel mining sector in India and thermal power generation. It annually produces about 30 million tonne lignite from opencast mines at Neyveli in the state of Tamil Nadu in southern India and at Barsingsar in Bikaner district of Rajasthan state.

The lignite is used at pithead thermal power stations of 3240 MW installed capacity to produce electricity. Its joint venture has a 1000 MW thermal power station using coal. Lately, it has diversified into renewable energy production and installed 141 MW solar power plant to produce electricity from photovoltaic (PV) cells and 51 MW electricity from windmills.

It was incorporated in 1956 and was wholly owned by the government of India. A small portion of its stock was sold to the public to list its shares on stock exchanges where its shares are traded. It is under the administrative control of Ministry of Coal.

Not just Mining and Power Generation, NLC India limited has contributed significantly to the Socio-Economic development for more than half a century.

NLC India has five pithead Thermal Power Stations with an aggregate capacity of 4240 MW. Further, NLC India Limited has so far installed 51 Wind Turbine Generators of capacity 1.50 MW each and also commissioned 140 MW Solar Photo Voltaic Power plant in Neyveli, resulting in an overall power generating capacity of 4431 MW (excluding Joint Ventures).

Mining Projects

NLC India Limited has four open cast lignite mines, namely, Mine I, Mine II, Mine IA and Barsingsar Mine. The lignite mined out is used as fuel to the linked pithead power stations. Also raw lignite is being sold to small scale industries to use it as fuel in their production activities.

Age limit: The upper age limit is 44 years for general category and ST category students of Mechanical Engineering and special relaxation to other category students like :

AgeRrelaxation of 3 years for OBC students.

Age relaxation of 5 years for SC students.

For all the other branches the upper age limit is 44 years for all the category candidates.

 

Selection Procedure

NLC India Limited is going to recruit the new candidates through the selection rounds as follows. Based on the performance and skills shown in the rounds the selection will be done.

  • Nationality: Indian
  • Age limit: The maximum age limit for the General category candidates is 30 years.

Relaxation to different category candidates as per Govt guidelines

  • For the SC/ST students an upper age relaxation of 5 years is provided to the students.
  • Forthe OBC (NCL) students an upper age relaxation of 3 years is provided to the students.
  • For the PwD students an upper age relaxation of 10 years is provided to the students. B

  • Final year students: Must complete their graduation at the time of shortlisting and interview.
  • Pass percentage: General and OBC (NCL) category candidates should have secured at least 60% aggregate marks (average of all semesters in all years)

SC/ST and PwD category candidates should have secured at least 50% aggregate marks in the qualifying test.

  • Selection procedure

Candidates will be short listed for the selection process based on the marks scored by them in GATE exam, out of hundred for the further processes including group discussions and personal interview.

The list of candidates shortlisted for selection process will be published on the NLC website (www.nlcindia.com) and intimation will be sent to the shortlisted candidates through email.

It is important to note that candidates who have been called for personal interview must bring all their original certificates along with one set of self-attested photocopies of the same for document verification.

Final list of students selected is declared after this.

  • Job Profile

NLC looking to hire young, dynamic and result oriented individuals for the post of Graduate Executive Trainees in various disciplines are given a training for twelve months (that is extendable). On completion of the training period, candidates are posted in any unit under NLC or any of its subsidiary companies.

The trainees are acquainted with the company, its way of working, their duties and responsibilities and a comprehensive understanding of the post at different disciplines.

It is important to note that selected candidates for the post of the Graduate Executive Trainee will be required to sign a Service Agreement Bond for a value of 1,00,000 INR which entails that the selected candidate will be required to work for the organisation for a minimum period of three years post the completion of training.

  • Training & Probation: Selected candidates will be on training for a period of minimum one year (extendable). During the training period they will be paid a Basic Pay, Dearness Allowance (120.3 % of basic pay) and a Common Allowance (40% of basic pay) per month
  • Pay Scale and Perks: The salary for the post ranges from 20,600 INR-46,500 INR (E-2 grade) with an increment of three percent. The candidates are offered a handsome annual package 8.6 lakhs INR CTC per annum.

During the training period, the Graduate Executive Trainees are paid Basic Pay, Dearness Allowance (presently 107.9 % of basic pay) and Common Allowance (40% of basic pay) per month. In addition to the above, they are paid Performance Related Pay annually and entitled for superannuation benefit (30% of basic pay plus Dearness Allowance), free Medical treatment for self and dependents.

Employees when posted are also provided unfurnished residential accommodation at nominal rent at their place of posting.

  • Service Agreement Bond: All selected candidates will be required to execute a Service Agreement Bond for a value of Rs.1,00,000/- to serve NLC Ltd for a minimum period of three years after the completion of the training period.
