A public Infrastructure Finance Company in India’s power sector, which promotes rural electrification projects across the country, Rural Electrification Corporation Limited (REC Ltd) provides loans to Central/ State Sector Power Utilities in the country, State Electricity Boards, Rural Electric Cooperatives, NGOs and Private Power Developers.

In 2018, the Cabinet Committee of Economic Affairs gave the approval for the sale of 52.63% REC to the state-owned Power Finance Corporation (PFC). EESL is responsible for implementing energy efficient projects, usage of energy efficient appliances and promoting the concept of Energy Service Companies. It  is a joint venture (JV) with 4 power PSUs – REC, PowergridNTPC, and PFC. REC Ltd is also an equity partner in Indian Energy Exchange (IEX), India’s first nationwide, automated, and online electricity trading platform (power exchange/ electricity market), among other reputed investors like IDFC, Adani, Reliance Energy, Lanco and Tata Power.

With a net worth of over 35000 crores, REC Ltd has two subsidiaries, which follow the mission of providing consultancy services in distribution and transmission sectors.

RECPDCL (REC Power Distribution Company Limited)

RECTPCL (REC Transmission Project Company Limited).

The Key activities at REC Ltd are:

RECPDCL is providing Consultancy and Fee based services to the Power Utilities in the areas of rural & urban electrification under the following heads:

  • AT & C Loss reduction
  • Smart Grid Projects implementation covering Smart Metering & SCADA
  • Real Time Data Acquisition System (RT-DAS) for feeders
  • Electrical Vehicle (EV) Charging
  • GIS Implementation
  • IT implementation under IPDS including setting up of Data Center, Customer Care Center, etc.
  • Solar PV Plants
  • DPR preparation & Project Management Consultancy for Power Distribution projects
  • Power Distribution Strengthening works
  • Energy Efficiency projects and Quality & Quantitative Surveillance/ Inspections of the works executed.

REC Ltd Recruitment

Every year RECL recruits’ candidate from different streams into various positions available. The information for these recruitments along with necessary details is given below:

1. Experienced Professionals On Fixed Term Basis

Assistant Engineer (Tech):

Qualifications: The candidate applying for this position must have obtained B.E/B. Tech degree in Electrical Engineering, with preferably 60% Marks or 1st Division form a recognised university.

Experience: The candidate must have a minimum experience of 3 years. An Essential Experience in Execution & Implementation of Power Distribution Projects up to 66kV voltage level, U/G cabling preferably under Govt. schemes like IPDS, DDUGJY, R-APDRP etc.

The candidate should have good understanding of SLDs, GTP/Electrical Drawings, IS/IEC codes/ Pre-dispatch inspection of Electrical equipment, Quality Assurance Desirable Experience. Should have knowledge of implementation of Feeder Segregation, Conversion of bare LT line with Aerial Bunched cables etc.

Pay Scale: The pay scale of the position is Rs. 54,000/-

Age limit: The maximum age limit for the candidate is 35 years. However, relaxation is provided to various category students like:

  1. Maximum age limit is relaxed by 5 Years for Schedule Caste & Schedule Tribe.
  2. Maximum age limit is relaxed by 3 Years for Other Backward Classes (Non-Creamy Layer).
  3. In respect of J&K domicile during 01.01.1980 to 31.12.1989, the maximum age limit is relaxed by 5 Years for General category, 10 years for SC/ST and 8 years for OBC-NLC category.

Selection process: The candidates will be first shortlisted based on the form they have filled and will be further called for an interview at Noida, Gautam Budh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh or Skype/Zoom Call.

2. Associate:

Educational Qualifications: The candidate must have completed MBA/PGDM, MSW degree from a recognized university.

Pay Scale: 648,000 (Per Year)

Experience: 3 – 5 years Education: MBA/PGDM, MSW

Selection: The first level screening will be done based on the application form submitted by the candidate. Subsequent to which the candidate will be required to appear on a personal interview. Based on the credentials and performance in the personal interview the candidates will be selected and the offer of engagement shall be issued to the suitable candidates in the order of merit and based on the number of vacancies and will be subject to verification to antecedents.

3. Assistant Finance Executive

Educational Qualifications: The candidate must have completed Chartered Accountant/ Cost Accountant/ MBA (Finance) from a recognized university.

Experience: An experience of 3 years is required which includes Essential Experience in Finance & Accounting of ledger Books, Establishment Accounts, Preparation of Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss Accounts, Income & Expenditure Statements, State & Central Taxation including Income Tax.

Desirable experience: Candidate should have working experience in the accounting and handling of assignment of a project independently at least for 2 years in any of the power distribution company.

Pay Scale: The salary of the candidate who qualifies is Rs. 54,000/- pm.

Recently in the news it has been communicated that REC Limited, was reported to have sanctioned over ₹300 billion (~$4 billion) to distribution companies (DISCOMs) in the country as of July 31, 2020.
