NATIONAL THERMAL POWER CORPORATION (NTPC)
National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC) is one of the biggest Maharatna companies today (Public Sector Undertaking), founded by the Government of India in 1975. The company is on no.1 on the list of GATE aspirants. The Government of India awarded Maharatna status to National Thermal Power Corporation in May 2010, with other three Maharatna companies. The NTPC was formerly known as National Thermal Power Corporation Limited. The company is performing great in all aspects.
NTPC is engaged in the business of generation of electricity and other similar activities. The core business is the generation of electricity and the sale of same to the state-owned power distribution companies and State Electricity Boards in India. The NTPC has also been involved in oil and gas exploration and coal mining activities. The National Thermal Power Corporation also ventures consultancy and turnkey project contracts which involve engineering, project management, construction management & operation, and management of power plants, thus providing large-scale jobs for engineers in these respective fields. The headquarters of the NTPC is situated in New Delhi.
NTPC is the largest electric power generating, power company with approx. The capacity of 53,651 MW. National Thermal Power Corporation contributes to over 25% of total power generation and presently produces 25 billion units of electricity per month.

NTPC Thermal Power Plant:
The National Thermal Power Corporation has 18 coal-based and 7 gas-based stations and 1 gas-based in JV/ subsidiary companies, located across India with a total installed capacity of 49,943 MW (including JVs). NTPC also has 1 hydro-based station and 1 wind-based station. And also has 9 joint ventures Stations are coal-based and solar PV projects. All these projects make NTPC the biggest thermal power in India and the reason NTPC why no. 1 Maharatna company. With the increasing presence of the National Thermal Power Corporation power plant in the power value chain, National Thermal Power Corporation is on its path of success with the goal of becoming an “Integrated Power Major.” NTPC plans to become 128000 MW Firm by the year 2032.

NTPC PSU started recruiting through GATE in the year 2012 and since then it is continued to do so. NTPC since 2012, recruits around 100-300 vacancies. Before applying to the National Thermal Power Corporation, there are some factors that need to be taken into consideration.
Qualification criteria for the Recruitment process through GATE
Full-time Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology/AMIE with at least 65% marks, an aggregate of all years, in spite of the weight given to any specific year by the College/University. Last year/semester applicants are also eligible to apply, though they must have obtained not less than 65% marks in their engineering degree. Candidates belonging to ST, SC and PwD need score at least 55% marks in the qualifying exam

Age Limit
- The upper Age limit is 27 years as of the last date of online application i.e. 30/01/19.
- The upper age limit is relaxed by five years for candidates belonging to scheduled caste and Scheduled tribe category
- The upper age limit is relaxed by three years for candidates belonging to the OBC- NCL category
- The age limit is relaxed by ten years for PWD- General candidates.
- For candidates belonging to the PWD OBC category age limit is relaxed by 13 years.
- For candidates belonging to PwD SC, and ST, category, the age limit is relaxed by 15 years.
Medical Requirements:
- Candidates need to meet the health criteria that are laid down by the National Thermal Power Corporation.
- Candidates must be of sound health and they will have to take a medical examination conducted by the medical board of NTPC. The decision of the board shall be final.
Selection Process
Eligible applicants must apply for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). On the basis of GATE Score, candidates will be shortlisted for appearing in the Online Aptitude Test, which is only qualifying in nature. Further, on the basis of performance in the Aptitude test, candidates will be shortlisted for the Group Discussion followed by the Personal Interview.
Applicants must secure minimum qualifying marks each in Group Discussion and Personal Interview individually to secure a seat. The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of 85% weight-age of GATE marks, 5% weight-age of GD marks, and 10% weight-age of Interview marks.
After selection, employees will have to go under for training for 1 year and sign a bond of 2.5 lakhs (UR/OBC category) or 1.25 lakhs (SC/ST/PWD) to serve the NTPC for 3 years.

National Thermal Power Corporation through GATE Exam
NTPC has announced the recruitment for the post of Executive Trainees through GATE for the year 2019. The eligible disciplines for 2019 are Electrical Engineering (EE), Mechanical Engineering (ME), Mining (MN), Instrumentation Engineering (IN), Electronics Engineering (EC).
There are 47 in Electrical Engineering (EE), 95 in Mechanical Engineering (ME), 15 in Mining (MN), 25 in Instrumentation Engineering (IN), 25 in Electronics Engineering (EC) and 207 VACANCIES in total.
