A well-organised revision plan is even more important than a proper preparation plan because retention is more important for judgement day than understanding. Planning your preparation strategy in such a way that there’s no room for revision would, in the end, be a blunder. Also, keeping revisions only for the end is equally harmful. The revision must be done at regular intervals through practising questions, reading notes, or appearing in test series. The time dedicated to revision must be increased with each successive month of preparation.

Studying for twelve hours a day, three days a week, and two hours a day for the rest of the week does not train the mind for the exam day. GATE PYQ will help you in having an understanding about the exam pattern, repeated concepts and level of difficulty. You must solve the topic-wise PYQ after completing the subjects. After the completion of the syllabus, attempt a full-length PYQ and have a proper analysis of the frequently asked questions.

7. Not attempting GATE mock tests

There are many candidates who do not attempt the GATE mock test or postpone the same to last-minute preparation before the exam. This will actually hamper their speed, accuracy and time management skills.

Students, to save money, tend to appear for fewer mock exams. This also means no practice for the real exam in the original mode. Further, by analysing the mistakes and marks obtained, one can easily decide as to what action to take further.
