DDA Careers: Delhi Development Authority

Created in 1957 under the provisions of Delhi Development Act, The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is responsible for planning, development, and construction of Housing Projects, Commercial Lands and Land Management. It also helps in providing public facilities like roads, bridges, drains, Underground water reservoir, Community Centres, Sports Centres, Green Belts, etc. within the area of National Capital Territory of New Delhi, India.

DDA Housing Scheme 2019

DDA launched a new Housing Scheme in March 2019, for around 18,000 flats situated in Delhi in the areas Vasant Kunj and Narela.

Besides this DDA also conducts various talent hunt schemes through its Sports Complexes in Dwarka, Saket, Hari Nagar, and other areas, including Yamuna Sports Complex and Siri Fort Sports Complex. DDA Dwarka Sports Complex along with DDA Saket Sports Complex plans to host State Level tournaments to provide a platform to professional and amateur sports people to showcase their talent.

Recruitment* of engineers for DDA

Every year DDA releases vacancies for various posts and recruits engineering students of various branches. A brief about all the posts along with their qualification criteria is mentioned below:

1. Assistant Executive Engineer:

Educational Qualifications: Engineering degree from a recognised university/institution.
Branches that are eligible:

  • Civil Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering

Age limit: The lower age limit for the post of Executive Engineer is 21, whereas the upper age limit for the same post is 30 years. However, some relaxations are provided to various category students
The Relaxations in upper Age Limit is as follows:

The Upper age relaxation for SC/ST candidates is 5 years.

The Upper age relaxation for the OBC candidates is 3 years.

The Upper age relaxation for the PWD candidates is 10 years (13 years for OBC-NCL, 15 years for SC/ST)

Selection Process:

Candidates who meet the above mentioned eligibility criteria and have also appeared/qualified the GATE examination and registered with DDA for recruitment to the AEE posts, will be shortlisted for interview on the basis of their GATE Score.

Weightage of each process: The weightage of GATE Score will be 85% and interview will be 15%.

Shortlisted candidates who are successful in the GATE examination will be called to appear before the interview board wherever prescribed along with original documents.

Period of Probation: the selected candidates will be put on a probation period of two years and in house training regarding departmental procedures etc. Probation of the candidate will be confirmed after completing/passing the departmental examination prescribed by DDA.

Medical Standards: Candidates which are provisionally selected by DDA have to undergo a Pre-Employment Medical Examination. The health of candidates is assessed by Authorized Medical Officers/nominated hospitals and the appointment is, subject to meeting the medical standards as per rules. Relaxation of medical standards for PwD (Persons with Disability) candidates: Candidates selected under PwD category except the handicap for which relaxation is acceptable, must be within the prescribed normal range of all other physical standards. PwD candidates would be required to furnish valid Disability Certificate duly stamped & signed by a medical panel empowered for the purpose and should comprise of 3 medical officers from government hospital.

Salary: The salary of an executive engineer varies between Rs. 56,100-1,77,500/-

2. Asst. Director (System)

Educational Qualifications: The candidates who have done their M. E/ M. Tech. in Computer Science / IT with First Class or minimum 60% marks in aggregate from Govt. recognised Institution / University.
Or
Candidates who have done) B.E. / B. Tech./M.Sc. in Computer Science / IT/ MCA with First Class or minimum 60% marks in aggregate from Govt. recognized Institution/University and with one-year experience in relevant field are eligible for the post of Asst. Director (system).
Age Limit: The upper age limit is fixed at 30 years with special relaxation to certain category students.

The Relaxations in upper Age Limit is as follows:

  • The Upper age relaxation for SC/ST candidates is 5 years.
  • The Upper age relaxation for the OBC candidates is 3 years.
  • The Upper age relaxation for the PWD candidates is 10 years (13 years for OBC-NCL, 15 years for SC/ST)
  • For ex-servicemen the upper age limit is relaxed up to 05 Years.

Nationality: The eligibility criteria for nationality is a little vast. The candidates must be either:

(a) A citizen of India
(b) A subject of Nepal,
(c) A subject of Bhutan
(d) A Tibetan refugee who migrated to India, before the 1stJanuary 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India
(e) A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

The candidates belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) above shall have a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India

Selection procedure: The candidates are selected based on a single written test examination which is followed by the interview.

It is a 2-hour duration examination which carries 120 marks and consists of 120 questions of objective type (multiple choice questions) of the discipline one has applied from. The examination will also have questions from reasoning, quantitative aptitude, general awareness and English language.
Based on the written examination, the candidates will be short listed for the interview round, Qualifications of which will lead to selection.

The question which carry 1 marks, there will be a penalty of 0.33 (negative marking) for wrong answers/multiple answers that will be marked by the candidates in the objective type question paper. However, where question is of 02 marks, there will be penalty of 0.66 (negative marking

Qualifications: the qualifying marks for each category is as follows:

Period of Probation: The probation period will be for two years; the selected candidates will be given in house training regarding departmental procedures etc. The probation of the candidate will be confirmed after completing/passing the departmental examination prescribed by DDA.

Pay Scale: The pay scale will be 10000-325-15200.

3. Programmer:

Educational Qualifications: The candidates who are interested in the post must have an Engineering Degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering/Electronics from a recognized university or Engineering College/ institute.
OR
(ii) Master Degree in Computer Science/Computer Application from a recognized University, Engineering College/Institute. OR
(iii) Should have passed ‘B’ Level examination from the Department of Electronics Accreditations of Computer Course (DOEACC).

Age limit: The upper age limit s fixed at 30 years with special relaxation to certain category students.

The question which carry 01 marks, there will be a penalty of 0.33 (negative marking) for wrong answers / multiple answers that will be marked by the candidates in the objective type question paper. However, where question is of 02 marks, there will be a penalty of 0.66 (negative marking)

Educational Qualifications: The candidates must have a diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent from a recognised Institution or equivalent.

The Relaxations in upper Age Limit is as follows:

  • The Upper age relaxation for SC/ST candidates is 5 years.
  • The Upper age relaxation for the OBC candidates is 3 years.
  • The Upper age relaxation for the PWD candidates is 10 years (13 years for OBC-NCL, 15 years for SC/ST)
