Indian Army SSC Tech Eligibility: Guidelines
One must go through the Indian Army SSC tech Eligibility conditions before filling the form. Let us see the eligibility guidelines given below:
- Nationality: Indian citizens, subjects of Nepal are eligible to apply. Indian origin persons who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka or specified East African countries with an intent to settle permanently in India.
- Age Limit: 20 to 27 years as on 1st April 2027. The person must be born between 1 April 2000 and 31 March 2007, as per the Matriculation certificate. Widows of defence personnel get relaxed age limits up to 35 years.
- Marital Status: Only unmarried male and female candidates can apply. Marrying during training, or between applying or joining leads to cancellation.
- Educational Qualification: A BE/BTech degree or an AICTE recognized equivalent in streams such as Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Computer Science or the listed miscellaneous streams.
Final year students can apply provisionally if their result is expected before 1st April, 2027. Moreover, candidates can apply for only one stream. A mismatch between the applied stream and the degree stream leads to rejection.

SSC Tech Indian Army Selection Procedure: A step-wise process
The biggest advantage to this entry is that there is no written exam. The SSC Tech Indian Army Selection Procedure works as follows:
- Shortlisting: Applications are screened stream-wise. The process is based on the cumulative marks percentage and the vacancy ratio. The cut off is expected in the first week of September 2026.
- SSB Interview: Shortlisted candidates can choose their centre (Prayagraj, Bhopal, Bengaluru or Jhalandhar). It will be on a first-come first serve basis. The SSB interview follows a five day process. It consists of a Screening Test, Psychological Tests, Group Testing Tasks and a Personal Interview. On the last day, the final review is done by the SSB board.
- Document Verification: Candidates must produce all original academic and personal documents. This includes class 10 and 12 marksheets, engineering marksheets, degree certificates and valid photo ID.
- Medical examination: A medical examination is conducted by military medical authorities. Only candidates certified as medically fit are included in the final list.
- Merit List: The merit list is prepared stream wise. It is based on SSB Performance and available vacancies.
- Joining Letter: A joining letter is issued to selected whose names are in the merit list. They will be trained at the Officers Training Academy.
Indian Army SSC Tech Salary and Training
Selected candidates train for 49 weeks at the Officers Training Academy, starting from April 2027. The Short Service Commission is initially granted for 10 years. It is also extendable by 4 years.
