CET: Common Examination Test
What is NRA and CET?
The Union Cabinet under the direction of Primer Minister Narendra Modi has given its endorsement for the formation of a National Recruitment Agency (NRA) to smoothen the employing cycle by leading a typical qualification test named CET (Common Examination Test).
In order to provide a common platform to all aspirants at the nearest District Head Quaters. Particularly those aspirants who are in rural areas/aspirational Districts, and with vision to set up a new standard of equity and transparency in recruitment process. Government of India has decided to set up a National Recruitment Agency (NRA) as an autonomous and self-reliant body, which will conduct a Common Eligibility Test (CET).
CET will be conducted to shortlist candidates for vacancies of Group ‘B’ Non-Gazetted posts, Group ‘B’ Gazetted posts, which are exempted from consultation with UPSC; Group ‘C’ posts in the Government and equivalent posts (where no such classifications exist) in instrumentalities of the Government, through a computer-based online Tier-I examination.
The NRA CET 2021 will supplant the first level tests that is being held by the three offices:
- Staff Selection Commission (SSC),
- Railway Recruitment Board (RRB)
- Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS)
NRA CET test scores will be legitimate for a time of three years from date of declaration of results and there will be no bar in the quantity of endeavors by an up-and-comer. The test will be conducted two times a year. Around 2.5 crore competitors show up for isolated enlistment assessments consistently for the recruitment of 1.25 lakh government occupations. To facilitate the enlistment cycle, the progression has been taken by the legislature to present NRA Exam.
Important Points about CET Exam:
- The Exam is proposed conducted in 12 languages.
- Exam will be conducted by NRA twice a year.
- CET score will be valid for 3 years from the date of Declaration result.
CET Exam Level:
Initially, a CET for each of the three levels (the graduate, the 12th pass and the 10th pass) shall be conducted twice a year. National Recruitment Agency (NRA) may increase the frequency of the CET at each level in a proposed manner to attain a stage where it should provide opportunity to a candidate to book and take the test on the date and time requested by him/her. NRA will plan to conduct the CET in examination centers with robust infrastructure across the nation in secure administrative conditions to prevent possible fraud and to eliminate wrong practices during the conduct of the exam. NRA will be held accountable to ensure conducting of CET exam in a swift, efficient, uniform and transparent manner. In addition, NRA will ensure quality-screening tests for the participating agencies.
Number of Attempts and Age limit:
There will be no restriction on the number of attempts an aspirant can appear for CET. Relaxation in the upper age limit will be provided to candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC and other categories as per the Government of India norms. Based on the preliminary screening conducted at the CET level, final recruitment shall be done through separate specialized Tests/examinations that will be conducted by the respective recruitment agencies.
Having appeared in the GET and obtaining score shall not guarantee a job to the aspirant. The aspirants will have to appear and qualify the specific examination conducted by the individual recruitment boards and will have to fulfill the other criteria’s defined by recruitment board.
NRA Registration:
NRA shall be registered as a Society under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 with its Head Office in Delhi, NCR. However, the processes within the organization and the accounting formalities shall be as rigorous as mentioned in the Companies act.
An estimated amount of Rs.1517.57 crore will be incurred on setting up of NRA in the first three years to conduct CET.
