BEML, Bharat Earth Movers Limited is an Indian Public Sector Undertaking, with headquarters in Bengaluru. It manufactures a variety of heavy equipment, such as that used for earthmoving, transport and mining. The Company has been partially disinvested and presently The Government of India owns 54 percent of total equity and rest 46 percent is held by Public, Financial Institutions, Foreign Institutional Investors, Banks and Employees. BEML Limited is a ‘Miniratna-Category-1’ company and plays a pivotal role. It serves India’s core sectors like Defence, Rail, Power, Mining, and Infrastructure.
BEML operates under three major Business verticals viz., Mining & Construction, Defence and Rail & Metro. The three verticals are serviced by nine manufacturing units located around the country at Bangalore, Kolar Gold Fields (KGF), Mysore, Palakkad, and Subsidiary – Vignyan Industries Ltd, in Chikmagalur District. Each Business vertical is headed by a Director who reports to the Chairman & Managing Director of the company.

- Mining and Construction: Bull Dozers, Excavators, Loaders, Pipe Layers, Wheeled Dozers, Tyre Handler, Shovels, Dumpers, Water Sprinklers, Motor Graders, Under Mining Equipment
- Rail and Metro: Integral Rail Coaches, Metro Cars, AC EMUs, OHE Cars, Steel and Aluminium Wagons, Track Laying Equipment, Utility Vehicle, Treasury Vans, Spoil Disposal Units, Broad gauge Rail bus.

BEML Recruitment
Every year BEML recruits various engineers for different post available in the organization. Depending on the candidate’s background, interest and performance the departments are allocated.
The various posts for which recruitment is done along with basic criteria is enlisted below:
A. Management Trainee
Requirement: The candidates are selected for the Management Trainee of BEML through GATE.
- Educational Qualifications: Degree in Engineering in Mechanical / Electrical & Electronics/ Metallurgy with 70% Marks for General and OBC candidates and 65% Marks for SC/ST/PWD candidates from a recognized university.
- Age limit: The upper age limit is 27 years. The upper age limit indicated above is for general category. Age relaxation for SC / ST / OBC will be as per the Govt. of India guidelines i.e., 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC candidates.
- Payscale: 16400-40500
- Selection Procedure: The interested candidates should have appeared in the GATE examination in either of the papers:
- Mechanical Engineering (ME)
- Electrical Engineering (EE)
- Metallurgy Engineering (MT)
The candidate will have to apply for BEML through the careers page of BEML website www.bemlindia.com and mention their GATE registration number
The Selection Process consists of different weightage given to the marks obtained in the qualifying exam, marks obtained (out of 100) in the corresponding paper of GATE & Personal Interview
Only the Candidates who will qualify the corresponding paper of GATE be eligible to be considered for the next stage of selection.
Qualified candidates shall be short-listed category-wise for Personal Interview based on their normalized marks out of 100 in GATE, in the corresponding paper.
- Training: The candidates who will be selected after the final interview will undergo training for a period of one year, from the date of their joining. On successful completion of their training period and on the assessment of suitability they will be absorbed as Engineer (Grade-II) in the same pay scale with one additional increment (@3% of Basic Pay) and will be on probation for a period of one year.
- Cut off for 2017
For the year 2017, the cut off marks for various branches based on their gate score and marks is as follows.

B. Asst. Engineer (Marketing/ Service/Spares)
Pay Scale: 12600-32500
Qualifications: First Class Degree in Engineering in Mechanical / Automobile/ Electrical from a recognized University / Institution. Postgraduate qualification in Management will be preferred.
Job Responsibility: The incumbent should be an excellent communicator & Team builder and should have relevant post qualification experience in:
- Marketing activities of a Medium/ Large Engineering Company
- Installation, erection, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of machineries preferably Heavy Earthmoving Equipments in a Heavy Engineering/ Automobile Industry.
- Should have worked independently to handle the Equipment problem in a large Engineering/ Automobile Industry.
C. Asst. Engineer (Quality)
Qualifications: First Class Degree in Engineering in Mechanical / Automobile/ Production/ Electrical from a recognized University / Institution. Postgraduate qualification in Management will be preferred.
Pay Scale: 12600-32500
Job Responsibility: The incumbent should have prescribed post qualification professional experience preferably in any large Engineering Industry in the areas of Quality Assurance related functions. The candidate shall be responsible for the quality of products & services both directly to the ultimate customer and internally between the departments and guiding the Unit heads in proper implementation of quality Systems.
Adopting TQM Philosophy, ensuring product standards at all stages and completion, monitoring, evaluating and continuously improving the overall quality performance.
D. Asst. Engineer (Metro Testing & Commissioning)
Qualifications: First Class Degree in Engineering in Electrical & Electronics/ Electronics & Communication from a recognized University / Institution.
Pay Scale: 12600-32500
Job Responsibility: The incumbent is responsible for Testing & Commissioning and Service pertaining to Electrical areas of Rolling Stock and should possess post qualification experience accordingly.
E. Asst. Engineer (Civil)
Qualifications: First Class Degree in Engineering in Civil from a recognized University / Institution.
Pay Scale: 12600-32500
Job Responsibility: The incumbent should have post qualification experience in Construction of Industrial Buildings/Hangars/Sheds, Roads, Civil foundation for equipment, estimation etc., and should be able to execute the job. The candidate should be able to prepare independently bill of quantity, estimate, proposal, cost engineering and planning to meet the project objective.
F. Asst. Officer (Corporate Communication)
Qualifications: Graduate with First Class Post Graduate Degree/ Diploma in Public Relations/ Journalism/ Mass Communication (2 years’ full time) from recognized University/ Institute.

G. Asst. Officer (Materials Management)
Qualifications: First Class Degree in Engineering in Mechanical / Automobile/ Production from a recognized University / Institution
Pay Scale: 12600-32500
Job Responsibility: The candidate should be capable of formulating policies and procedures in Materials Management functions. The candidate should preferably be conversant with ERP (SAP) based procurement tools like SCM, SRM etc. and also the candidate should preferably be familiar with CVC guidelines of Public Sectors/ Govt. organizations.
H. Diploma Trainee
Qualifications: Three years’ full-time Diploma in Engineering in
Mechanical/Automobile/ Electrical with aggregate marks (Relaxable by 5% for SC/ST).
Job Responsibility: The incumbent shall be on training for a period of 1 year and on contract for a period of 2 years. On successful completion of the training/ contract period, they will be absorbed in Wage Group S1.
Others: They will be paid a consolidated stipend of Rs. 6000/-PM during the training period and Rs.8000/-PM and Rs.9000/-PM during the first year and second year of contract period respectively.
