BEML: All about Bharat Earth Movers Limited

BEML, formerly known as Bharat Earth Movers Limited, is an Indian public sector undertaking, with headquarters in Bengaluru. It manufactures a variety of heavy equipment, such as that used for earthmoving, transport, and mining. The company has been partially disinvested, and presently The Government of India owns nearly 54.03 percent of total equity, and the rest, 45.97%, is held by the public, financial institutions, foreign institutional investors, banks, and employees. The company was established in 1964 as a PSU (Public Sector Undertaking) for the manufacturing of rail coaches and spare parts and mining equipment at its Bengaluru Complex. Recently, BEML has published a notification on their official website under the BEML careers section about the recruitment of management trainees.

BEML

BEML or Bharat Earth Movers Limited is a ‘Schedule ‘A’ Company under Ministry of Defence, Govt. Of India. The company plays a pivotal role and serves India’s core sectors like Defence, Aerospace, Rail, Metro, Power, Mining and Infrastructure.

The Company started with a modest turnover of Rs. 5 Crs. during 1965 and today, thanks to its diverse business portfolio, the company has been able to achieve a turnover of more than Rs. 4,300 Crs.

BEML operates under three major Business verticals viz., Mining & Construction, Defence & Aerospace and Rail & Metro. The three verticals are serviced by nine manufacturing units located at four locations in the country. These four locations are Bangalore, Kolar Gold Fields (KGF), Mysore, Palakkad, and Subsidiary unit – Vignyan Industries Ltd, in Chikmagalur District. Each Business vertical is headed by a Director who reports to the Chairman & Managing Director of the company.

  • Defence and Aerospace:

Defence:

Bharat Earth Movers Limited plays a very important role in the development of integrated RADARS, Missiles etc. by supplying ground support vehicles. As a PSU, BEML supports India’s military modernization and “Atmanirbhar Bharat” goals.

SBU-HMV unit of BEML manufactures different variants of BEML high mobility vehicle for all terrain operations including Bridge Layer, Field Artillery Tractor, Medium & Heavy Recovery Vehicle, Pontoon Mainstream Bridge Systems, Sarvatra Bridging system, Gun Towing Vehicles, Crash Fire Tenders, Mobile Mast Vehicle, etc.

Other than that, BEML supplier of Tank Transportation Trailers, Weapon Loading &

Replenishing equipment, Heavy Recovery Vehicle, Troop Carriers on HMVs, Engineering Mine Ploughs, Armoured Recovery Vehicles, Mil-rail Coaches and Wagons.

Aerospace:

BEML launched its aerospace manufacturing division during Aero India 2009. The Aerospace Manufacturing Division of BEML is located in Mysore. It is AS1900D accredited and equipped with state of art machine shop, sheet metal shop and heat treatment shop.

As a commitment of self-reliance, BEML has achieved 99% indigenisation level for 75 Ton Aircraft Towing Tractors. Additionally, the organization has successfully indigenised major aggregates for Ground Handling and Ground Support equipment.

Currently, BEML is focusing on the indigenisation of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs).

  • Rail and Metro

From the establishment, BEML has supplied over 18000 nos. mainline passenger coaches of various types for long distance mainline routes of Indian railways. Along with that, BEML has also manufactured and supplied over 850 Nos. of Electrical Multiple Units (EMUS) to Indian Railways for use in its sub-urban and mainline routes. BEML has also manufactured and supplied self-propelled equipment, other maintenance vehicles to Indian Railways and 8W-DHTCs (for OHE inspection & maintenance) to Indian Railways and various Metro Corporations of India.

  • Mining and construction

BEML is India’s leading mining and construction equipment manufacturer. It offers a comprehensive and diverse range of mining and construction machinery. Some of the mining equipment that are manufactured by BEML are: Rear Dump Trucks, Hydraulic Excavators, Rope Shovel, Crawler Dozers, Wheel Dozers, Wheel Loaders etc.

The construction equipment manufactured by BEML include Crawler Dozers, Hydraulic Excavators, Motor Graders, Back-Hoe Loaders and Front-End Wheel Loaders etc.

BEML Recruitment 2025

BEML has released notification for engineering graduates for the post of Management Trainee in the organization. Depending on the candidate’s background, interest and performance the departments are allocated.

The detail of this recruitment is given below:

Management Trainee

Requirement: The candidates are selected for the Management Trainee of BEML on the basis of the marks scored by candidates in CBT.

  • Total vacancies: Total there are 100 vacancies for mechanical and electrical engineers.
  • Educational Qualifications: Degree in Engineering in Mechanical or Electrical with 60% Marks for General and OBC candidates and 55% Marks for SC/ST/PWD candidates from a recognized university.
  • Age limit: The upper age limit is 29 years. The upper age limit indicated above is for general category. Age relaxation for SC / ST / OBC will be as per the Govt. of India guidelines i.e., 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC candidates.
  • Pay scale: The Management Trainees will be placed on a starting basic pay of Rs.40,000/- pm in the pay scale of Rs.40,000- 1,40,000 during their training period. Besides Basic Pay, MTs will be eligible for Variable Dearness Allowance, Perquisites & Allowances @ 13.78% of the applicable Basic Pay under the Cafeteria System, Company Accommodation / House Rent Allowance. Provident Fund, Gratuity etc. will be paid as per the prevailing Company Rules. The executive will also be eligible for Performance related Pay (PRP). At locations where Company accommodation is not available, applicable HRA in lieu of the place of posting will be provided.
  • Training period: The Management Trainees (MT) will undergo training for a period of one year, from the date of their joining. On successful completion of their training period and on assessment of suitability, they will be absorbed as Officer (Grade-II) in the same pay scale with one additional increment (@3% of Basic Pay) and will be on probation for a period of one year.
  • Service Bond: The Management Trainees are required to execute a Service Bond to serve the Company for a period of 4 years including training period, failing which candidates are liable to pay the liquidated damages amounting to Rs.2,00,000/. An amount of Rs. 4000/-pm will be recovered for 47 months and the balance amount will be recovered in the last instalment for liquidated damages of Rs.2,00,000/-. After successful completion of the bond period, the security deposit will be refunded with interest. In case of breach of the service agreement during the bond period, the security deposit will be forfeited.
  • Selection Procedure:
  1. The shortlisted candidates will have to appear for a computer based written test which will comprise of questions to test the candidates’ knowledge on respective domain (i.e. Mechanical (or) Electrical Engineering respectively as applied for) and test of reasoning including English ability. The paper will be for 2 hours.
  2. Candidates will have to appear for Computer based Written Test at their own cost, on the date, time & venue, which will be mentioned in their Admit Card. The candidates have to download Admit Card from BEML Careers page. The online application will provide candidates with options to opt for exam locations as identified by BEML. However, exam locations will be allotted by BEML based on availability

The pass marks for the written test will be fixed at 60% which will be relaxed by 5% for candidates from SC/ST/ PwD category. Based on performance in the computer based written test, candidates will be shortlisted for subsequent assessment which will also include personal interview. The candidates will be provisionally shortlisted for selection based on the final Merit list which will be drawn based on the performance of the candidates in the written test and performance of candidates who have been shortlisted and have attended the 2nd assessment.

  1. The provisionally shortlisted candidates will have to undergo pre-employment medical examination. On receipt of medical clearance from the Company’s Doctor as per the medical standards prescribed by BEML, Final Offer of Appointment will be issued as per the rules of the Company.

  • Application Fee: Candidates from unreserved/EWS/OBC category would need to pay Rs 500 (non-refundable) as application fee.

SC/ST/PwBD candidates don’t need to pay any fee.

  • Application Process:
  1. The candidates are required to apply ONLINE only (which is mandatory) after going through the prescribed guidelines and ensuring correctness of the data entered in the portal / form.
  2. The candidates can access the on-line application form in our career page at www.bemlindia.in. The on-line registration site would be available till 18.00 Hrs on 12th of September, 2025.
  • Towards accessing the On-line application, the candidate should have a valid e-mail and mobile number for Registration. These contact details will also be utilized for further correspondence by BEML Limited. The change for e-mail and mobile number will not be entertained by BEML during the course of the Recruitment process.
  1. The ‘Registration number’ generated may be noted for all future correspondences.
  2. While filling in the On-line application, the experience section may be filled by first providing the latest experience followed by previous. All such experiences should be captured by the candidate. In the space provided against the experience a pen picture of the experience relevant to the position applied to must be written. These will be used at the time of scrutinizing the applications received.
  3. Along with the Online application, the candidates are required to upload the following without which their applications will be incomplete and rejected.
  4. X-th Marks card
  5. XII-th Marks card
  6. Engineering all Semester marks card (In case of CGPA or credits system of assessments, candidates are required to indicate the formula for conversion of CGPA/ Credits to percentage in accordance with the respective University norms.)
  7. Engineering Degree Certificate
  8. Post Graduation Marks cards as applicable
  9. Post Graduation Certificate as applicable.
  10. Identity card issued by Government of India (for eg. Aadhar, Passport, Driving License, PAN Card, etc.)
  11. Detailed Resume.
  12. OBC/EWS/SC/ST/PwD certificate (as applicable).

iii. The upper age limit indicated is relaxable as per the Govt. of India guide lines i.e., 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC – NCL candidates.

  1. For PwD Candidates, the upper age limit is relaxable by additional 10 years. This would be over and above the admissible age relaxation for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC – NCL. Relaxation of age limit would be permissible to candidates with minimum 40% disability.
  2. Under qualifying marks, first class is reckoned at 60% (as an aggregate of marks of all the Semesters/ years). Qualifying marks are relaxable by 5% for SC/ST & PwD candidates. Candidates with CGPA/ Credit have to mandatorily provide the conversion to percentage.
  3. SC/ST candidates are required to submit SC/ST Caste Certificate in the format as applicable for appointment to posts under Government of India.
