Recruitment of Engineering Executive Trainees through GATE-2024
NTPC Limited is India’s largest power conglomerate with an installed capacity of 76,733 MW. Commensurate with our country’s growth challenges, NTPC has embarked upon an ambitious plan to attain a total installed capacity of 130 GW by 2032. To fuel its ambitious growth plan, NTPC is looking for promising, dedicated, energetic young Graduate Engineers with brilliant academic records to join the organization as Engineering Executive Trainees 2024. The eligible engineering branches are:
- Electrical – 135 vacancies
- Mechanical – 180 vacancies
- Electronics/ Instrumentation – 85 vacancies
- Civil – 50 vacancies
- Mining – 25 vacancies

Educational Qualification
Full time Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology/AMIE with not less than 65% marks, as per respective Institute/University norms (55% for SC/ST/PwBD candidates). Candidates must have appeared for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)-2024.
A candidate with the prescribed degree identified for the disciplines as given below can only apply for the post of EET in the respective discipline:

Age Limit
The upper age limit is 27 years as on the last date of online application. Age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD/XSM candidates applicable as per Government guidelines.
Selection Process
Eligible candidates must have appeared for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)- 2024 and must have qualified in the exam. Candidates shall be shortlisted for document verification based on GATE-2024 performance and organizational requirement, from amongst the candidates who apply against this advertisement in NTPC. Further, the candidates will be extended “Offer of Appointment” subject to meeting the advertised eligibility criteria. Please note that only GATE marks of 2024 will be valid for EET-2024 recruitment.

**The vacancies for PwBDs are reserved as per Govt. guidelines. The total number of projected vacancies indicated above may increase / decrease at the discretion of NTPC management.
Level/ Pay of Scale
Selected candidates will be placed in the pay scale of Rs.40,000-1,40,000 at the basic pay of Rs. 40,000/– (E1 Grade). The other benefits such as Dearness Allowance, other perquisites and allowances, terminal benefits, etc. will be admissible as per company rules in force from time to time during training/after absorption.
Placement
The selected candidates shall undergo one-year training at various places. The final place of posting will be decided after completion of training. Candidates can be placed, across the country, in any of projects/stations including Subsidiaries/JV companies of NTPC. The incumbents would be posted at projects/stations for shift operation of power plants and will be required to work in shifts (including night shift). Application for the post will be considered as the consent of the candidate to work in shifts (including night shift).
How to Apply
- Candidates need to apply online for NTPC EET-2024 on the website careers. ntpc.co.in or visit careers section at www.ntpc.co.in with their GATE-2024 registration number.
- Candidates will be required to upload all the required documents (as listed under at #9) & enter GATE-2024 registration number during online application.
- Read the instructions carefully and fill-in the online application form giving accurate information including the GATE-2024 registration number. After a successful application, the system will generate a unique application number. Candidates are required to download the application slip and keep the printout of the application slip which will be generated by the system after successful application.
- Please ensure that the GATE-2024 registration number, which is mentioned on your GATE-2024 score card, is filled up correctly. The name should also be filled up as appearing in the GATE score card. No request with respect to the change in any data entered by the candidate will be entertained once the application is submitted successfully.
- Candidates belonging to General/EWS/OBC category are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of Rs. 300/-. The SC/ST/PwBD/XSM category and female candidates need not pay the application fee. The payment can be made either in online or offline mode.
- Payment in offline mode: State Bank of India has been authorized to collect the application fee, in a specially opened account (No. 30987919993) at CAG branch, New Delhi, on behalf of NTPC. The candidate must approach the nearby SBI branch with a printout of the “pay-in-slip” which is available on the application portal. The pay-in-slip printed from the portal should only be used for depositing the fee for proper crediting of the amount in the allocated account. On receipt of the money, the bank will issue a unique Journal Number and a Branch Code of the bank collecting the money. This journal number and the branch code are to be filled up by the candidate during online application. NTPC will not be responsible in case the candidate deposits the fee in a wrong account.
- Payment in online mode: Candidates also have the option to pay the fees online (through Net banking/Debit Card/Credit Card). The online payment option will be available in the online application form.
- Uploading of Documents: The candidates should necessarily upload all documents while applying. Applications with incomplete/insufficient documents are liable to be rejected/not considered for further process. List of documents is given here:

- Class X Passing Certificate or Marksheet for Name/DOB proof
- PAN Card and Aadhar Card
- Scanned Copy of original GATE 2024 Score Card
- Engineering Degree (Final/Provisional certificate)
- Engineering Final year or Consolidated Marksheet/Transcript clearly indicating aggregate % of marks in all semesters
- Marks conversion formula from the University/Institute for conversion of marks in CGPA/CGPI/DGPA/CGI/CPI etc. into percentage (%). Conversion formula is not required if the marks are already awarded in percentage.
- Valid Caste/Category Certificate in the govt. prescribed format (for SC/ST/OBC- NCL/PWBD/EWS candidates).
a. OBC-NCL certificate should be in central format valid for FY 2024-25.
b. EWS Candidates need to submit valid Income & Asset certificates for FY 2024-25 based on the income of FY 2023-24 in the prescribed central format & Photograph.
Service Bond
The selected candidates who belong to General, EWS and OBC categories will be required to execute a service bond of Rs. 5,00,000/- (Rs. 2,50,000/- for candidates belonging to SC, ST, PwBD categories) to serve the company for at least 3 years after successful completion of one-year training.
Health
Before joining, candidates will have to undergo a medical examination by the NTPC Medical Board/Officer, and their decision will be final and binding. No relaxation in prescribed health standards is allowed. Detailed medical norms are available on the website careers.ntpc.co.in. Hence, all applicants are advised to go through the medical norms before applying.
Reservations and Relaxations
- Candidates claiming to belong to any particular category shall necessarily have a valid EWS/OBC-NCL/SC/ST/Disability certificate, as the case may be, from the Competent Authority. Reservations and relaxations for SC/ST/OBC/XSM/EWS/PwBD candidates will be provided as per Government guidelines. Relaxations will be extended where there are vacancies identified for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD.
- Category (SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD) once filled in the online application form will not be changed and no benefit of other category will be admissible later on. The reserved category candidates are required to submit requisite valid certificate in the latest prescribed format of Government of India, issued by the competent authority.
- SC, ST and PwBD candidates with at least 55% marks in qualifying examination are eligible to apply for the post. The upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC candidates. It is relaxed by 10 years for PwBD-General/EWS, 13 years for PwBD-OBC and 15 years for PwBD-SC/ST candidates. The OBC candidates who belong to “Creamy Layer” are not entitled for concession admissible to OBC category and such candidates have to indicate their category as General. The EWS/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates are required to submit requisite certificate in prescribed format of Government of India, from a competent authority issued in the current financial year only. In addition, the age relaxation for Ex- servicemen (XSM) will be as per Government of India norms.
General Instructions
- Only Indian Nationals are eligible to apply.
- The candidate should ensure that he/she fulfills the eligibility criteria and other norms mentioned in the advertisement.
- All qualifications should be from an Indian University/Institute recognized by AICTE/ appropriate statutory authority.
- All computations of age shall be done w.r.t. the last date of receipt of online application as mentioned in the advertisement.
- No manual/paper application will be entertained.
- Candidature of a registered candidate is liable to be rejected at any stage of recruitment process or after recruitment or joining, if any information provided by the candidate is false or is not found to be in conformity with eligibility criteria mentioned in the advertisement. Canvassing in any form shall disqualify the candidate.
- The E-mail ID entered in the online application form must remain valid for at least next one year. No change in the E-mail ID will be allowed, once entered. All future correspondence would be sent via E-mail only.
- Candidates employed with any organization are required to submit a relieving letter from the current organization at the time of joining, if selected for the said post.
- The mere fact that a candidate has submitted an application against the advertisement and apparently fulfilling the criteria as prescribed in the advertisement would not bestow on him/her the right to be definitely called for further selection process.
- NTPC reserves the right to cancel/restrict/enlarge/modify/alter the recruitment process including the number of vacancies, if need so arises, without issuing any further notice or assigning any reason whatsoever.
- Any proceedings in respect of any matter of claim or dispute arising out of this advertisement and/or an application in response thereto can be instituted only in Delhi and courts/tribunals/forums at Delhi only shall have sole and exclusive jurisdiction to try any such cause/dispute.
- In case any ambiguity/dispute arises on account of interpretation in versions other than English, the English Version will prevail.
