UPPSC AE 2024 Exam – Overview

Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission, the full form of UPPSC, has declared 604 vacancies to recruit assistant engineers from civil, mechanical, electrical, and agricultural engineering branches. Online application is available from 17th December 2024, and the last date is 17th January 2025. It is mandatory for the candidates to make One Time Registration (O.T.R.) and obtain O.T.R. Number before applying online. Only after obtaining an O.T.R. number may candidates submit online applications through the commission’s website https://uppsc.up.nic.in.

Salary, Perks and Allowances

The pay scale for the UPPSC AE 2024 position is categorized under Level-10 of the official pay matrix, offering a monthly salary that ranges from Rs. 15,600 to Rs. 39,100 with a grade pay of Rs. 5400. Age Limit

UPPSC AE exam 2024 is expecting candidates who must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have crossed the age of 40 years on July 01, 2024, i.e., they must have not been born earlier than 2nd July, 1984, and not later than July 01, 2003.

Educational Qualification

While the four eligible engineering disciplines are civil, mechanical, electrical and agricultural branches, the educational qualification required is a Bachelor’s Degree in respective engineering branches from a University established by law in India or a Degree recognised by the Government as equivalent thereto; or An Associate Member of the Institution of Engineers (India). The preliminary examination will be merely qualifying in which 15 times the number of candidates per post as per the standard set by the Hon’ble Commission will be selected to appear in the second stage (main examination). In this regard, the procedural decisions taken by the Hon’ble Commission from time to time will be effective.

Qualifying Criteria for Prelims

Approximately 15 times the number of vacancies will qualify for the Mains Exam:

15 x 604 = 9,060 candidates

Mains Exam:

Syllabus

The syllabus of the UPPSC AE 2024 exam has significant modifications with the addition of engineering topics in the prelims exam that are common for everyone.   • General Knowledge: The General Knowledge paper will cover current events and such things as are in everyday experience with a focus on their scientific aspects and which may be expected of an educated person. The question paper will also include questions on Indian history, politics and geography which the candidates will be able to answer without any special study.
  • General Hindi – The syllabus of Hindi will be designed in such a way that the candidate’s understanding of the Hindi language and efficient use of words can be tested. Its level will be high school. This section is the most scoring section.
  • Engineering Aptitude – The Engineering Aptitude section is the newer addition in the syllabus of the prelims exam. Few of the topics are overlapping with the Engineering Services Examination syllabus. The list contains 22 topics as follows:
