What is Coronavirus and COVID-19?
As per World Health Organization (WHO):
“Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus.”
The COVID-19 virus spreads primarily through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose when an infected person coughs or sneezes, so it’s important that you also practice respiratory etiquette (for example, by coughing into a flexed elbow).
How to Stay Safe from Coronavirus?
Again, as per WHO:
“The best way to prevent and slow down transmission is to be well informed about the COVID-19 virus, the disease it causes and how it spreads. Protect yourself and others from infection by washing your hands or using an alcohol based rub frequently and not touching your face. “
The primary preventive measures suggested by the World Health Organization, are as following:
- Clean hands with soap and water or alcohol-based hand rub
- Cover nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing with tissue or flexed elbow
- Avoid close contact with anyone having cold or flu-like symptoms
- Thoroughly cook meat and eggs before consuming
- Avoid unprotected contact with live wild or farm animals
- Use the mask while going out.
- Follow two yards from each other.
How to Study during a Corona Pandemic?
In the words of Robert Frost: “The only way out is THROUGH”
One who is ready to carry forward with the same determination and courage, even in the tough times, has all the characteristic of being crowned as a winner when the time comes for results. Keep up with your studies and use this time in a smart way to make your preparation even more efficient.
Following are some of the ways through which you can make the best out of this lockdown:
Fill the Gap
Most of the students, while doing classes or even while preparing from home, can’t keep up with the pace of the reparation given the sheer vastness of the syllabus. This creates a void in the preparation which they are not able to fill even till the last day before the exam.
This is a great time to track down what are the topics or subjects where there is a void. Find the subjects of whom you haven’t made the notes or the subjects in which a lot of questions remain to be solved. Find this gap and use this time to fill it.
Supplement
This is a great time to supplement your knowledge with some quality external content. The concepts taught in the classroom are more than enough for the preparation of exam. However, adding more dimensions to your knowledge won’t hurt the cause and will give you a sure shot edge in the final exam.
For this purpose, you can refer to good reference text books of the important subjects and topics. Try solving good questions from these books which will give you a new perspective of the concepts. You can also supplement it by joining the new and innovative online course of MADE EASY which is called Concepts Through Questions.
This online course is available on the new Online Platform of MADE EASY called MADE EASY PRIME and is available at very reasonable prices. This course will help you in getting clear concepts through solving quality questions. The sessions will be taken by renowned faculties of MADE EASY.
- Test the Waters
Now will be a great time for you to indulge in taking Online Tests and test where you stand. You will not get a second chance like this where you can create a suitable environment to take tests and make the best out of the analysis provided at the end of the Online Test Series.
You can start with the topic-wise tests and gradually move on to the full tests in order to cater to all the aspects of your preparation.
Mindfulness
This may sound a bit spiritual or even cliché. However, this alone time will also provide you a chance to connect with yourself. In this cut-throat competition of GATE or ESE we sometimes forget ourselves and our well-being.
This break is like a pit-stop in a long race where you can clear all the negativities from your mind. Pull back from all the mental troughs and push yourself ahead in the right direction. Try to find your strengths and weakness which have affected your studies and life in general in a good or a bad way.

We should also be helping towards the cause of eradicating this deadly virus and making our planet a safer place to live. Show your gratitude towards those who are putting their lives at risk to serve the patients and people. Solidarity and gratitude are the only two things that are going to take us ahead.
