DRDO Recruitment 2022: In 1963, the DRDO’s Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory (DMRL) was established in Hyderabad to meet the needs of complex materials for modern Defence applications with a mission to develop advanced materials, innovative process technologies, and related product engineering, supported by basic and applied research. The vision of DMRL is to become a center of excellence for providing total material solutions for Defence systems.

DMRL invites applications for the position of Fifteen (15) Junior Research Fellows (JRFs) and One (01) Research Associates (RAs) from candidates possessing the following qualifications:

Selection Process
- Eligible candidates for JRF-interview (Post Codes: JRF-01 and JRF- 04) will be shortlisted based on valid GATE scores and marks percentage obtained in the minimum qualifying degree.
- The GATE score should be valid as on the date of application in the aforementioned subjects only.
- Eligible candidates for RA-interview (Post Codes: RA-01) will be shortlisted based on suitability of thesis/dissertation and/or prior work experience with DMRL’s projects, and several research papers in SCI journals.
- Eligible candidates for the JRF interview (Post Codes: JRF-02 and JRF- 03) will be shortlisted based on valid NET/GATE scores.
- Candidate must submit the supporting document for converting CGPA/CPI to equivalent percentage from the concerned university.
Age Limit
The age limit for JRF is 28 years as of July 24, 2022. The age limit shall be relaxed by 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC candidates or as per Government guidelines. Applicants must attach a copy of the self-attested caste certificate with the application.
General Conditions
- The concerned team prepares the list of shortlisted applicants and communicates with them via e-mail. Along with this, they inform the shortlisted candidates of the date, time, and particulars of the web-based/in-person interview via e-mail. The shortlisted candidates must confirm their attendance for the interview via email five days before the scheduled date.
- Based on the online interview, the team draws a panel of candidates for the anticipated, which is valid for 1 year. However, empanelment does not entitle any candidate to an offer of fellowship, which is contingent upon the occurrence of vacancies during the year. Director, DMRL reserves the right to not select any candidate if suitable candidates are not available for the respective position.
- If selected, the candidates will be required to produce certificates/proofs in original for verification at the time of joining. Selected candidates must note that they will not receive TADA for joining.
- Only candidates who have completed their respective courses with receipt of a degree/provisional certificate are eligible to apply for the JRF and RA positions.
- The concerned team possesses the authority to allow the JRF candidates to register for part-time Ph.D. (if selected) with any University/Institution during the fellowship tenure upon approval by the Director, DMRL.
- Those who were already in the JRF position in any of the DRDO laboratories/centers earlier are not eligible to apply again.
- Candidates working in Government/Public sector undertaking/Autonomous bodies should produce a no objection certificate (Annexure-II & III) to attend the interview.
- The management of DMRL reserves the right to amend/refix/cancel/suspend the selection process at any time during the process without assigning any reason whatsoever. The decision of the DMRL management shall be final in all aspects of the selection process and binding, and it does not accept/entertain/consider an appeal of any kind in this regard.
Fellowship Emoluments
Rs. 31,000/- per month for JRF and Rs. 54,000/- for Research Associate with applicable H.R.A and medical facilities are applicable as per DRDO rules.
Tenure
| JRF | The post is temporary and the maximum tenure is 05 (Five) years. The initial tenure will be 02 (Two) years. The selected candidates will be elevated subsequently to Senior Research Fellow (SRF) for the remaining 03 (Three) years subject to satisfactory performance to be assessed as per DRDO Guidelines. In addition, the offer does not confer the candidates any right for absorption in DRDO under any circumstances. |

- The number of JRF and RA positions mentioned above is only indicative and may change at a later stage depending on the final assessment of eligible applications received.
- Eligible candidates shall email the duly filled application form (Annexure–I to III; Check DRDO website > What’s New) along with soft copies of self-attested degree certificates, GATE score card, caste certificate, and other applicable proofs (in a single pdf file, not exceeding 10 MB) to dmrlhrd@gmail.com before July 24th,2022. The officials disqualify applications if the applicants fail to submit either the scanned application via e-mail or the online form.
