POWERGRID Energy Services Limited (PESL)

POWERGRID Energy Services Limited (PESL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), began operations in August 2022. For the financial years 2023-24 and the first quarter of 2024-25, PESL reported turnovers of ₹67.15 crore and ₹24.28 crore, respectively. The profit after tax for these periods was ₹8.08 crore for FY23-24 and ₹6.33 crore for Q1 of FY24-25.

PESL is executing critical strategic projects like Solar PV Plants and Automated Metering Infrastructure, and also providing Consultancy services. As on 1st October 2024, PESL is maintaining assets of 16 TBCB Projects of POWERGRID, which includes 17 nos. of Substations, 96 nos. of Transmission Lines (i.e., about 8,200 ckm). In the DMS sector, PESL provides consultancy services to various central government schemes such as the RDSS (Revamped Distribution System Strengthening) and PMDP (Prime Minister Development Program). Additionally, it offers international consultancy in the Distribution Management System (DMS) domain to countries like Nepal. PESL is actively exploring new developments in the power sector and aligning its efforts with India’s mission to ensure 24×7 power supply, with a focus on increasing the penetration of renewable energy sources.

Selected candidates shall undergo training for a period of one year. They will be placed in the pay scale of Rs.30,000 -1,20,000/-, IDA, HRA and Perks @ 12% of Basic Pay per month during training period.  On successful completion of 1-year training, they will be placed as Asstt. Engineer at E0 level in the pay scale of Rs.30,000 -1,20,000/- (IDA).

On regularization, Compensation package shall include Basic Pay, Dearness Allowance, Perquisites and Allowance as per cafeteria approach, Company Quarters or HRA, Location Based Compensatory Allowance (as applicable), Performance Related Pay, Terminal Benefits (Provident Fund, Gratuity, Pension, PRMB – Post Retirement Medical Benefits), EDLI, Group Insurance, Group Personal Accident Insurance, Reimbursement of Monthly Conveyance, Mobile & Digital Services, Leave encashment, TA/DA etc.

PESL also offers facilities like Conveyance Advance, Multi-Purpose Advance, Medical facilities for self and dependents, etc. to its regular employees in accordance with the policies of the organization from time to time.

Service Agreement Bond

The selected candidates will be required to execute a service agreement bond of Rs.5,00,000/- for General/ OBC (NCL)/ EWS candidates and Rs.2,50,000/- for SC/ ST/ PwBD candidates for serving the Corporation for a minimum period of three years after completion of training successfully.
Application Fees

Payment of Application fee (Non-refundable Rs. 500/-, wherever applicable). SC/ST/PwBD/Ex-SM/DESM candidates are exempted from payment of application fee.

Candidates are advised to go through the instructions carefully and ensure payment of fees on time.

 

Relaxation and Concessions

  1. Reservation/ Relaxation/ Concession to candidates belonging to reserved categories including PwBD shall be as per Government of India directives.
  2. Candidates with a minimum of 40% disability relevant to the specified category will be eligible for the PwBD benefits. Individuals seeking concessions, relaxations, or reservations under the PwBD category must upload their disability certificate in the format prescribed by the Government of India. Electrical Engineer Trainee applicants under the PwBD category should ensure all documents are submitted as required.
  3. Relaxation in Marks in essential qualification: Qualifying Marks in essential qualification is relaxed to pass marks for posts reserved for the respective category.
  4. Relaxation in Upper Age Limit:
a) For OBC(NCL) candidates : 3 years (Subject to reservation of post)
b) For SC/ST candidates : 5 years (Subject to reservation of post)
c) For PwBD candidates : 10 years over and above category relaxation
d) Ex-Servicemen/ DESM / Victims of riots : As per Govt. of India directives

 

  1. Reservation/ Relaxation / Concession (for the posts reserved for respective category) will be subject to:
a) For OBC(NCL) OBC candidates must submit a copy of their latest OBC (NCL) certificate, formatted as prescribed by the Government of India, at the time of application and during the interview, if called. The certificate must be based on income for the financial years 2021-2022, 2022-2023, and 2023-2024, and should be issued on or after April 1, 2024.
b) For EWS

Candidates must submit a copy of the latest Income and Asset Certificate issued by a competent authority at the time of application and during the interview, if called. To be eligible for the Economically Weaker Section reservation, candidates must meet the criteria set by the Central Government and possess the required certificate based on income for the financial year 2023-2024, issued on or after April 1, 2024.Top of Form

c) For SC/ ST Submission of relevant Caste Certificate in the prescribed GOI format issued by Competent Authority.
d) For PwD/PwBD Submission of disability certificate in prescribed format issued by the Government Medical Board.
e) Ex-Servicemen  / DESM Candidates must submit the relevant discharge certificate and other documents in the prescribed format issued by a competent authority.
Ex-servicemen whose service experience in the Armed Forces is equated by the Government of India with the qualifications specified in this advertisement may use that experience as an acceptable induction-level qualification for the post. However, ex-servicemen must provide a certificate from their respective Armed Forces confirming that their experience or training is equivalent to the required level of qualification; otherwise, their candidature will not be considered.
f) Victims of riots Submission of relevant Age relaxation cum Domicile certificate in the prescribed format issued by a Competent Authority.

 

  1. It is recommended that candidates provide a certified translation of their Caste/Category certificate in Hindi or English upon request for document verification, in the event that it was issued in a language other than Hindi or English.
  2. Wherever posts are not reserved for SC/ ST/ OBC (NCL)/ EWS/ PwBD, candidates belonging to such categories can apply subject to meeting the general standards of eligibility.

Selection Process

  • The selection process includes:
    1. Normalized marks (out of 100) from the corresponding GATE 2024 paper.
    2. Behavioural Assessment.
    3. Group Discussion (GD).
    4. Personal Interview.
  • Eligible candidates must qualify and secure a valid score in the corresponding GATE 2024 paper.
  • Candidates will be shortlisted for GD and Interview based on their normalized GATE Score, according to management criteria.
  • Candidates can choose to conduct the GD and Interview in either Hindi or English.
  • Candidates can check their status via the candidate login in the Online Application System.
  • Shortlisted candidates will download their interview call letters and relevant documents from the candidate login.
  • Candidates selected for the GD and Interview must bring the documents specified in their call letter.

Candidates must qualify in the Personal Interview in order to be considered for empanelment. The qualifying % in interview for different categories is as mentioned below:

Group discussion will not have any Qualifying Marks.

Weightage to Different Parameters:

For calculation of final score of a candidate for empanelment, the weightages of marks obtained in GATE 2024, Group Discussion and Interview shall be as indicated below:

Empanelment of Candidates:

  • Shortlisted candidates for the Group Discussion (GD) and interview may undergo a Behavioural Assessment, the results of which will be considered during the interview.
  • Only candidates who qualify in both the GATE 2024 and the Personal Interview will be deemed suitable for empanelment.
  • Only GATE 2024 scores (normalized marks out of 100) are valid for this recruitment process; GATE scores from 2023 or earlier are not acceptable.
  • Suitable candidates will receive appointment offers based on requirements and category-specific merit. In the case of a tie in scores, the candidates will be sorted according to their birthdate, starting with the oldest.
  • Selected candidates will be notified through their login in the Online Application System.
  • The appointment is subject to candidates passing a Pre-Employment Medical Examination, conducted per POWERGRID’s standards and norms of medical fitness.
  • Upon joining PESL, candidates will not have any claims for absorption or employment with POWERGRID or any of its subsidiary or joint venture companies.

General Information

Eligibility: Only Indian nationals aged 18 years or above are eligible to apply for POWERGRID positions.

Provisional Nature of Candidature: The candidature at all stages of the selection process will remain provisional.

If no such system exists, CGPA will be converted by dividing it by the maximum CGPA and multiplying by 100.

No Rounding of Marks: Marks in essential qualifications will not be rounded off when determining eligibility.

NOC for Government/PSU Employees: Candidates employed in government or PSUs must submit a “No Objection Certificate” at the time of the interview.
