HAL hires Graduate Engineers for the posts of Management Trainee /Design Trainee for its various Production, Overhaul & Service Divisions / Research & Design Centers / Offices at Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kasaragod, Nasik, Koraput (Orissa), Lucknow, Kanpur, Korwa (Uttar Pradesh) and Barrackpore (West Bengal).

These posts are generally available for multiple research, production, and design centers in India, and the concerned authorities carry out the recruitment based on GATE Score. The below section of the article provides an in-depth analysis of the HAL recruitment process.

 

Management Trainees /Design Trainees

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) conducts recruitment through GATE. HAL is a Public Sector Enterprise (PSU). A valid GATE score is required to seek recruitment in HAL company. Get all details here including dates, cut-off, result, and selection process.

Eligibility: Candidates must have Full Time Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in the relevant discipline.

Eligible candidates shall have to appear for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Candidates are shortlisted based on the GATE scores and requirements of the respective department.

The candidates of the General/OBC (non-creamy layer) categories must have received an average of a minimum of 65% marks.

The candidates in the SC/ST/PWD categories must have received an average of a minimum of 55% marks.

For the final year students: Gen/OBC (non-creamy layer) category must have a minimum of 65% marks.

SC/ST/PWD categories must have a minimum of 55% marks.

For shortlisting, the final year students must submit their final scorecard at the time of the interview.

Age limit: Age Limits:

General candidates: The upper limit for general category students is 28 years. Age relaxation is given to candidates of the other categories.

Domiciles in Kashmir Division of Jammu & Kashmir State (from 01.01.1980 to 31.12.1989): 33 years

OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates: 31 years

SC/ST candidates: 33 years

PWD candidates: 38 years

 

Selection Process:

Selection will be based on the candidates’ performance in GATE. Candidates will be shortlisted for further rounds based on their GATE scores. So it is mandatory for all the interested and eligible candidates to first apply for the GATE, then according to that score get shortlisted for the further round. Whereas the selection will be based on their performance separately in GATE.

 

Shortlisting of Candidates

The qualified candidates will be shortlisted based on valid GATE marks out of 100. The weightage for the GATE exam is 85% in the complete HAL selection process.

 

Personal Interview

Personal interviews (PI) will be utilized for further shortlisting of the candidates. The weightage for the PI round is 15%.

 

Final Selection

The candidates must pass the medical fitness program based on the company’s policy so that they can be medically fit for the final selection.

No Objection Certificate (NOC):

Any candidates working in Public Sector Undertakings, Government or State Government Departments are obligated to present a NOC from their respective organization.

 

Training & Probation:

Selected candidates receive posting in any of the Production, Overhaul, or Services Divisions / Research & Design Centers / Offices, based on the requirements of the Company. They will undergo 52 weeks of the training program, comprising various training modules including theoretical & on-the-job training at various places. The location where the selected candidates will be posted will be decided before joining HAL.

During the training period, the Trainees shall draw a Stipend comprising of Basic Pay of Rs. 16400/-, Variable Dearness Allowance & Canteen Allowance. Besides, bachelor accommodation or House Rent Allowance is also admissible during the training period, depending upon the place of posting, as per Company Rules.

On successful completion of the training, the Trainees would be absorbed as Engineers in the Grade-II Scale of Pay of Rs. 16,400-40,500/-. On absorption, the candidate will be eligible for Basic Pay, Variable Dearness Allowance, other Perks & Allowances under the Cafeteria system, Company Accommodation / House Rent Allowance, Performance Related Pay (variable pay), Leave, Medical Facilities, Provident Fund, Gratuity. Other superannuation benefits, etc. as per Company Rules applicable from time to time.

 

Pay Scale:

The trainees will be given a stipend of basic pay of ₹16,400 along with canteen allowance and dearness allowance. Additionally, house rent allowance or bachelor accommodation will also be provided during the training period.

After the candidates complete their probation period successfully, they shall be eligible for a pay scale of Rs. 16,400 – Rs. 40,500. The candidates will also be eligible for variable dearness allowance and other perks, such as a cafeteria system, performance-related pay (PRP), medical facilities, gratuity, provident fund, and superannuation bonuses per organization policy from time to time.

 

Service Agreement Bond:

Shortlisted candidates must fulfill a service agreement of 5 years, which is excluding the training or probation period of one year. If the candidate breaches any terms and conditions during the training period or after being appointed, they will be accountable to compensate the company for the amount acquired for probation, recruitment, and all costs paid (maximum ₹5 lakhs).

 

Medical standard:

Candidates provisionally selected by HAL will have to undergo a Pre-Employment Medical Examination before joining HAL. Candidates should have sound health and should meet the medical standards prescribed by the Company. Appointment of selected candidates will be subject to receipt of a satisfactory medical report from the Company’s Doctor as per the Medical Standards of the Company. No relaxation in health standards will be allowed.

 

Cut off

Every year, the cut-off for HAL is released depending on the number of vacancies, students applied, and the marks for the GATE examination.

  • Age: Maximum 26 years; as per the Apprentices Act 1961, the authorities have granted the age relaxation for 5 years to SC/ST candidates, 3 years for OBC Candidates, and 10 years for PH candidates in respective categories.
  • Selection Process: Face-to-Face Interview.

 

Air Traffic Controller Trainees in Bangalore

  • Qualification: Full time Degree in Engineering / Technology or its equivalent in Computer Science / Electrical / Electronics. UR/OBC candidates should have secured a minimum of 60% Marks and SC/ST candidates should have secured a minimum of 50% Marks, in the aggregate, of all Semesters/ Years or corresponding CGPA Ratings/Gradations in the qualifying examinations.
  • Pay Scale: Rs.30,000 – Rs.1,20,000
  • Qualification: Full-Time Degree in Engineering / Technology or its equivalent. Candidates should not have any active backlog papers at the time of the Selection.
  • Eligible branches of Engineering Degree: Computer Science: Computer Science/ Computer Engg/Computer Science & IT/Information Technology/Information Science &Technology/Computer Systems/Information Systems/Information Science/Software Engg./Computer Technology/Computer Science & Engg. Electrical: Electrical/Electrical & Electronics/Electrical & Instrumentation. Electronics: Electronics/Electronics & Communication/Instrumentation & Control/Instrumentation & Electronics/Applied Electronics & Instrumentation/Electronics & Instrumentation/Electronics & Telecommunication.
  • Age: The concerned authorities do not allow general candidates above 28 years to sit for the HAL selection and give age relaxation to the candidates belonging to other categories.

 

Domiciles in Kashmir Division of Jammu & Kashmir State (from 01.01.1980 to 31.12.1989): 33 years

OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates: 31 years

SC/ST candidates: 33 years

PWD candidates: 38 years

  • Training: Selected candidates receive training in-house or deputed to the Civil Aviation Training College at Allahabad or Air Force Academy, Dindigul (Hyderabad) for training. They shall also undergo “On the Job” training in handling “live traffic” at Bangalore, HAL Airport. The duration of training will normally be one year, which may be reduced/extended depending on the performance of trainees.
  • Stipend: During the period of training, they will be paid a stipend of Rs. 34,690/- per month (comprising of Basic Pay, Variable Dearness Allowance, and Canteen Allowance). Besides, Bachelor Accommodation or House Rent Allowance is also admissible during the training period.
  • Selection Process: The selection process will comprise of Written Test and Skill Test. The concerned authorities conduct the selection process in Bengaluru.
  • Application Fee: Rs.500/- (Rupees Five Hundred Only) along with the bank charges (as applicable), which are non-refundable (Exempted in case of SC/ST Candidates).

 

Engineer Radio Radar

  • Qualification: Full-time degree in Engineering/Technology or its equivalent in Electronics and Communication.
  • Experience required to be possessed in the next below Grade or an equivalent post (Completed years): 2 years.

Note: In case of candidates possessing the qualification of Degree in Engineering/ Technology or its equivalent plus Post Graduate Degree in Engineering/Technology, the period of Experience will be reduced by the prescribed period of the Post Graduate Engineering Course, Subject to a maximum of two years. In other words, the candidate with M.E./M.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering may apply as a fresher for the above post.

The qualification of Degree in Engineering/Technology here would mean a Regular/Full-time Degree in Engineering/Technology acquired from recognized institutions/University Board of Technical Education under the 10+2+4 system. The qualifications acquired through Part Time / Correspondence / Distance Education / E-Learning courses are not eligible to apply.

  • Pay Scale: Rs. 40000- Rs. 140000
  • Max Age: 35 years. Age relaxation is given to candidates of the other categories.
