LMRC: All about Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation

With the operation started in 2017, Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation is a rapid transit system serving the city of Lucknow in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.  Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) Limited, a joint venture company of Government of India and Government of Uttar Pradesh has been entrusted with the responsibility of implementation and operation of the rail based Mass Rapid Transit System in the capital city of Lucknow.

Every year the LMRC invites applications for the technical vacancies in their organization. Candidates after selection are likely to be posted in Lucknow or any other projects of LMRC, anywhere in Uttar Pradesh. The LMRC recruitment posts are divided into two categories the executive which is for the Executive (Technical) post of assistant Manager and non-executive category which is for the post of Junior Engineer.

In this article we would like to talk about LMRC recruitment to the executive and non-executive post and therefore the article is divided into 4 parts:

  2. Selection Procedure

  4. Job profile

A.     Eligibility criteria

1.       Age limit:

The age limit for the LMRC examination is between 21 to 28 Years for both the executive and non-executive post.  However, some relaxations are also provided like:

  • Upper age relaxation is granted by 5 years for SC/ST/OBC candidates of U.P. for reserved posts only. If any SC/ST/OBC candidate avails benefit of age relaxation, he will be considered against Reserved post only.
  • Only person of UP domicile is entitled for such relaxation.
  • Upper age for Ex-servicemen of UP will be length of service + 3 years, subject to a maximum age of 40 years. The Ex-servicemen are those who are covered in the definition, as per extant rules of Ministry of Defense/ Govt. of India. Candidates applying as Ex-Servicemen should be retired on 01.02.2018 and earlier.
  • No relaxation is admissible in upper age limit for Dependents of Freedom Fighters candidates & Women of U.P.

2.       Educational Qualifications:

One can apply to these given posts if they fulfill the eligibility criteria and the Educational Qualification mentioned by the LMRC recruitment notification. The Qualifications are different for various posts depending on the branch one has applied from. Apart from the Educational Qualifications, other eligibility criteria are also mentioned by LMRC.

We shall first discuss the Educational Qualification for the various posts of assistant Manager and Junior engineer.

Apart from the above mentioned qualification there are other Special cases where a person can apply for the above posts:

  • Candidate with higher qualification in respective disciplines can also apply.
  • However, for the post of Maintainer candidates must have done ITI in specified, above mentioned trades.
  • Candidates having higher qualification viz. B.E./B.Tech/Diploma etc. but not having ITI in specific trades, are not eligible for these post of Maintainer.
  • Candidates can apply for more than one post as per their qualifications.
  • However, they must note that the written test may be held on one or more days at different cities (centers).
  • As such candidates applying for more than one post must keep this combination in mind. Separate application fee for each post shall be paid.
  • Candidates after selection will be posted at Lucknow and other Metro Project in various cities of Uttar Pradesh.
  • The candidates while applying for the posts should have minimum qualification as per notification

D. Selection Procedure:

1. LMRC Executive post:

For the executive posts of assistant manager (civil, electrical, S&T, Architecture, operations and IT) the selection procedure is a two stage process:

  • Written Test followed
  • Medical examination in Executive (Technical) category.

2. LMRC Non Executive post:

For the non-executive post , Junior Engineer the selection procedure is a two stage process-

  • Written Test
  • Medical examinations in Aye-Three (A-3) category

For the post of Station Controller cum Train Operator and Customer Relations Assistant the selection methodology will comprise three-stage process

  • Written Test,
  • Psycho Aptitude Test,
  • Medical examination in A-one (A-1) category.

For Office Assistant posts the selection procedure will comprise a two-stage process –

  • Written Test
  • Medical examinations in C- One (C-1) category

For Maintainer posts the selection procedure will comprise a two-stage process –

  • Written Test
  • Medical examinations in B- One (B-1) category

Important points:

  • Candidates having undergone Lasik surgery are not suitable for any of the above mentioned posts except Office Assistant.
  • The candidates are required to qualify all the examination along with the medical examination to be finally selected for both executive and non-executive post.
  • The selection process is aimed at testing the candidate’s knowledge and judges him/her on different facets of knowledge, skills, comprehension, aptitude and physical fitness.

E. Written Test format and syllabus

  • The written test will comprise of a CBT (Computer Based Test) which will be held for different posts on different days.
  • Question paper will be bilingual i.e. in English and Hindi.
  • The Written test will consist of multiple choice objective type questions on General English to judge the knowledge of English language, General Awareness, Logical Ability, Quantitative Aptitude and/ knowledge of the discipline/trade.
  • There will be a total of 140 questions for the assistant manager, Junior Engineer and Office assistant post each carrying equal marks.
  • There will be a total of 100 questions for maintainer post each carrying equal marks.
  • There will be negative marking. For every wrong answer 1/3 marks will be deducted. The Paper shall be of 2 hours’ duration.
  • Candidates who qualify in the written test for Station Controller cum Train Operator/Customer Relations Assistant and rank high on the merit list within the zone of consideration in as decided by LMRC shall be called, for Psycho Aptitude test/Document verification/LTI Verification/Medical Examination, at Lucknow.
  • Psycho aptitude test is the qualifying test and candidates eight times of the number of vacancies (in all categories with respect to prescribed reservation) will be called for psycho aptitude test.
  • The candidates qualifying the psycho aptitude test and high in the merit list will be called for Medical examination/Document Verification.
  • All the candidates who qualify both the papers separately and rank high on merit as decided by the LMRC will be called for the Medical Examination.

Surety Bond:

  • Executive Cadre: A Surety Bond of Rs. 3,00,000 plus GST to serve the corporation for a minimum period of three years. (Exclusive of the period in which he remained on LWP or EOL) and also a three months’ prior notice plus GST, will be required before seeking resignation from the corporation.
  • Non-executive cadre: A surety bond of Rs.1,50,000/- with GST to serve the corporation for a minimum period of three years (exclusive of the period in which he remained on LWP or EOL) and also a three months’ prior notice plus GST, will be required before seeking resignation from the corporation.

Training:

  • The selected candidates on appointment will be on Probation for a period of two years (including period of training), where they will undergo intensive training for prescribed duration.
  • The Corporation has the right to enhance or reduce the training period at its discretion for any or all the trainees.
  • During the probation period, candidates may be required to pass various examinations.
  • The service of the candidate during probation period can be terminated by the corporation if the performance of candidate is found to be unsatisfactory, in accordance with the terms & conditions of offer of appointment.
  • The probation period will exclude LWP or EOL. After successful completion of probation period depending upon their satisfactory performance, candidates are likely to be confirmed in LMRC on permanent basis.

Important Points with respect to the selection and application from:

  1. The application is for both executive and non-executive post of the LMRC
  2. A single candidate can apply for more than one post if he/she is eligible for the post.
  3. For each post applied the candidate has to deposit separate fee.
  4. The validity of the Selection Panel is for two years from the date of its approval.
  5. Make sure that you follow the eligibility criteria as failure to do so will deem your candidature cancelled.
