Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) is a Public Sector Undertaking which functions under the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India. This organization was registered as a Public Limited Company under the Companies Act, 1956. NPCIL, along with its operational nuclear power plants, also holds stake in BHAVINI, another PSU of Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) which is involved in Fast Breeder Reactor. In the country, Nuclear power reactors are designed and commissioned under the supervision of NPCIL. Also, NPCIL is responsible for hassle free operations of the various nuclear power reactors across the nation. At present, NPCIL has 22 operating commercial nuclear power reactors with an installed capacity of 6780 MW.

1. Executive Trainee
Based on the previous trends, the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) releases the vacancy for the post of Executive Trainee through GATE.
In the past years, the educational qualifications for the Candidates were that they should have completed B.E/B. Tech/B. Sc. (Engineering)/5 year Integrated M Tech in respective disciplines
Candidates who have done 5 years integrated course leading to M.E./ M. Tech. in the relevant discipline may also apply
Final year students can also apply if they can produce proof of their eligibility and final marks sheet during the final recruitment.
Based on previous trends of recruitment of Executive Trainee in Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited the eligible branches are: Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Chemical, Civil, Industrial and Fire Safety engineering.

For the recruitment done in the previous years the candidates interesting the post must have an aggregate of Minimum of 60% during the graduation for being eligible for the post of executive trainee.
Based on the past year trends of recruitment The upper age limit for the candidates is 26 years. However, special relaxation is provided to various category students.
- For the OBC category students the upper age limit is 29 years.
- For the SC/ST category students the upper age limit is 31 years.
- For the candidates who are Dependents of those who died in the riots of 1984, the upper age limit is 31 years
- For students of Jammu & Kashmir Domiciled from 01/01/1980 to 31/12/1989 (Dom Kashmir) the upper age limit is 31 years
- For Persons with Disability (PWD) – 10 years of relaxation is provided on the upper age limit.
- For PwBD – General/EWS Category, the upper age limit is 36 years
- For PwBD – OBC Category candidates the upper age limit 39 years
- For PwBD – SC/ST Category candidates the upper age limit is 41 years
In the past, the Candidates with a valid GATE score in were allowed to apply for the NPCIL Selection based on the GATE Scores.
This will be followed by an interview. Based on the cumulative score of both GATE and interview the final selection will be done.
Salary Structure and perks:
The selected trainees will be given compensation as follows during the training period:
Monthly Stipend – INR 35,000
Book Allowance – INR 10,000
Mandatory Lodging (on nominal charge) & Boarding – In NPCIL Hostels.
Salary after one year of training is completed:
Once the training is complete, the candidate is appointed as Scientific Officer/C (SO/C) in Group ‘A’. Following is the salary structure thereafter:
Pay Band: 15600 – 39100
Grade Pay: 5400
They are eligible for two additional or three increments (each of 3% of Band Pay + Grade Pay) and it will be in accordance with their performance during training.

Stipend During Training:
During the 1st Year a monthly stipend of Rs. 16000
In the 2nd year, monthly stipend of Rs. 18000
The selected candidates will be required to execute an Agreement, Indemnity Bond /Bank Guarantee and Service Bond for a period 3 (three) times the period of training subject to a minimum of two years and a maximum of five years and in the event of breach of bond, the amount repayable will be equivalent to the stipend plus book allowance actually received.
On successful completion of training, the candidates will be joining NPCIL as Scientific Assistant/B at a minimum pay of Rs. 35,400/-. Some Additional increments may be granted to the candidates based on the percentage of marks obtained during the training.
3. Assistant Grade:
Based on the past trends the Educational qualification for candidates in Assistant Grade 1 is as follows:

In the previous years, the upper age limit for the candidates is 28 years whereas the lower age limit is 21 Years. However, special age relaxation is provided to various category students:
For the Scheduled Castes category students, the upper age relaxation is 5 Years
For the Other Backward Class (non-creamy layer) category students, the upper age relaxation is 3 Years
For the Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PWBD) students the upper age relaxation is 10 Years.
For the PWBD Scheduled Castes category students the upper age relaxation is 15 Years
For the PWBD Other Backward Class (non-creamy layer) category students the upper age relaxation is 13 Years
For the Ex-Servicemen the upper age relaxation is period of military service +3 Years
Until last year the candidate’s selection procedure was simple. They had to undergo a written test along with a skill test. One had to qualify both the examination for final empanelment.
The written examination will be held in two stages:
Stage 1: Preliminary test
Examination will consist 50 multiple choice questions (Choice of four answers) of 01 (one) hour duration in the following proportion:

The Test will be for an hour’s duration for a maximum 150 marks.
Each correct answer carries 3. Arms, whereas every negative answer deducts one marks.
Tests may be conducted in single/multiple sessions depending upon logistics requirements.
The qualifying standards shall be as follows:
For general category – 40% marks
SC/OBC- 30% marks
Stage 2: Advanced Test
All the selected candidates of stage 1 will appear for stage 2.
The Test will be of 02 (two) hours duration for a maximum of 150 marks.
The test will comprise 50 Multiple choice questions (Choice of four answers) from the following syllabus:
(Three) marks to be awarded for each correct answer and 01 (one) mark to be deducted for each incorrect answer.
The qualifying standards for the exams conducted earlier for recruitment would be as follows:
General category: 30%
SC/ OBC 20%
Stage 3: Skill Test
Based on the merit list which will be prepared after Stage 2, candidates will be shortlisted for the skill test. The candidates appearing for the skill test will not be more than 5 times the actual number of vacancies for each post.
The skill test for Assistant Grade-1 will consist of:
- Typewriting Test on Personal Computer (PC); and
- Computer Proficiency Test
The Skill tests will be of qualifying nature only on Go/No Go basis.
Candidates clearing the Skill Test to be shortlisted and impaneled in order of merit based on marks secured in Stage-2. The Selection Committee decision is final and no waitlist is prepared.
