GATE holds a unique place in the minds and hearts of engineering students because it enables them to pursue postgraduate degrees from prestigious colleges and obtain jobs at various PSUs based on their scores. GATE is more than just an exam; it acts as a gateway to engineering, offering students a variety of opportunities. As the results were released on March 16th, 2024, numerous aspirations were fulfilled.
The GATE 2024 exam was held on the 3rd, 4th, 10th, and 11th of February 2024, and consisted of 30 engineering courses. Electronics and Communication Engineering [EC] is the stream from which most candidates applied, and students in this stream obtain the highest rankings. Electronics and Communication engineering is the study of electrical devices, including their design, development, and maintenance. Also involves manufacturing and assembling communication and broadcasting systems.
As the results were announced, MADE EASY held a conversation with the achievers called ‘Toppers Talk‘ on the official YouTube channel. Rankers shared their strategic planning, recommendations, and advice with ambitious students for the upcoming GATE 2025. It is highly suggested that students watch the video since they will be motivated to learn.
The subject is continued in this MADE EASY blog, which explores the success stories of GATE 2024 EC Toppers. MADE EASY experts conducted a thought-provoking discussion delving deeply into their preparation for the GATE exam with EC rankers. Gantasala Ravi Teja, AIR 2, Electronics & Communication Engg [EC]
Ravi graduated with a B.Tech. from Bapatla Engineering College in Andhra Pradesh and received an AIR 2 in GATE 2024. With sufficient confidence, Ravi quit his lucrative job and began preparing for the GATE. He joined the online test series and the MADE EASY Quick Revision Course. He started using QRC for revision after finishing his entire syllabus, as its thorough structure made it easier for him to understand things that had previously seemed difficult to him. He allotted 10 pages for each subject while making short notes, and if he encountered new questions, concepts, or formulas from the MADE EASY test series, he would add them, which extended a few pages in his short notes. He was able to improve his accuracy by practicing with test series; as a result, he attempted 57 questions, of which 49 were answered correctly. He thinks that conceptual comprehension is crucial, so it’s preferable to begin preparing in college. He advises making one’s own notes because they are the perfect study material and that doing PYQs is the most beneficial. Ravi also solved the previous year’s questions from subjects that are common with those in the EC.
Bharath Simha Reddy, AIR 4, Electronics & Communication Engg [EC]
Bharath belongs to Hyderabad and secured AIR 4 in GATE 2024 Electronics & Communication Engineering. He did his graduation from Osmania University, Hyderabad, and scored 69.67 marks in EC. His GATE score has boosted his confidence to prepare for the upcoming ESE Mains in June 2024. He used to test series on learning more about understanding the concepts of the subjects. Like every top achiever, he too suggests starting the preparation as early as possible. He even practiced common questions from other subjects as well. He suggests that whenever one starts with preparation, it is better to first complete engineering mathematics and have comprehensive knowledge of the fundamentals. Later completing subject by subject and also recommends not to rush with the syllabus.
Apurba Debnath, AIR 8, Electronics & Communication Engg [EC]
Apurba did his B.Tech. from the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, in 2021 and has secured AIR 8 in GATE 2024 EC. His long-term plan was never a corporate job, so he left his job in May 2023 to prepare for GATE, ISRO, and ESE.
Apurba joined MADE EASY ESE+GATE 2024, Online Test Series, BARC Online Test Series, and Postal Package for ESE. He started a test series in August, subject-wise, and later a full-length test in the last two months. He strategizes to analyze his weaknesses and strengths after attempting the test series and figure out the incorrect questions, skipped questions, and concepts that require further revision. He advises that the initial revision should be comprehensive and also suggests keeping the loop. Gradually, you’ll end up revising everything thoroughly. His struggle was to shuffle with multiple exams, but he managed well as his main focus is still on the ISRO and DRDO scientist exams.
Lakshmi Sai Krishna Yarru, AIR 10, Electronics & Communication Engg [EC]
Sai obtained an AIR 10 in GATE 2024 EC and graduated with a B.Tech. from JNTU Kakinada in 2023. Sai enrolled in MADE EASY courses, Online Test Series, and PYQs, all of which were adequate for him to utilize as a study source. He plans to take practice test series every day, evaluate his errors, and revise them. He thinks that by using these techniques, he will make fewer mistakes in the exam. He suggests that it’s crucial to make mistakes in the easier courses. He thinks that effectively managing your time during an exam involves determining which questions are attainable and eliminating the more difficult ones. He devoted the whole month of December to revision and PYQ strategically and scored 66.67 marks in the exam.
Rohan Dey, AIR 13, Electronics & Communication Engg [EC]
Rohan is a native of West Bengal and a B.Tech. graduate of VIT University in Andhra Pradesh. He wants to continue his higher education, i.e., his Masters, after receiving an AIR 13 on the GATE 2024 EC. In his second year of college, Rohan began taking lessons at NPTEL as part of his preparation. He advises continuing to practice and review consistently, something he did not do on his prior GATE exam, which resulted in lower scores. His study materials included workbooks, revision materials, PYQs, and subject-specific MADE EASY Online Test Series. He splits the incorrect questions when taking the exam series into GATE-relevant and high-level problems. He then analyzes his errors and highlights them to get even better.
He made 51 attempts at answering the questions accurately and quickly. He advises to start the preparation sooner, maintain consistency while studying, do cyclic revisions, and attempt test series at regular intervals.
