Hey engineers! BPSC has announced AE Recruitment 2025 for 1024 Assistant Engineer Vacancies.

BPSC AE Recruitment 2025: 1024 Vacancies:

Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) conducts the BPSC AE exam to recruit Assistant Engineers in various departments of the Government of Bihar. Engineering graduates aspiring to pursue their careers as Assistant Engineers in Bihar Engineering Services can take advantage of this golden opportunity. In 2025, BPSC released the notification for the post of AE in various departments.  The total number of vacancies currently available is 1024, which includes 489 vacancies are for unreserved candidates and the rest are for reserved candidates.

Pay Scale:

The pay scale for this above mentioned post is level 9 with 5400 grade pay.

Age Limit:

Applicants should have attained minimum age of 21 years as on 1 August 2024. The maximum age limit for male candidates (unreserved category) is 37 years, whereas females from unreserved category have upper age limit of 40 years. Candidates from backward class have maximum age limit of 40 years irrespective of their gender, SC/ST candidates have upper age limit of 42 years. The cut-off date for upper age limit varies from department to department.

Educational Qualification

  • Degree in civil/mechanical/electrical engineering from any recognized university of India.

Or

  • Degree obtained in technical courses in regular mode from deemed universities recognized by the University Grant Commission.
  • Candidate should be an Associate Member of the Institution of Engineers or should have passed Branch- “A” and “B” of the Institute of Engineers, India or should have passed any other degree equivalent to Branch- “A” and “B” from an Institute recognized by the Institute of Engineers, India.

Candidates are advised to refer to the official notification or visit the Commission’s website for detailed information regarding the required educational qualifications for each post. Ensure eligibility criteria are met before applying.

Selection Process and Exam pattern

Selection on all the post would be done on the basis of marks obtained in the written exam (objective type).

The written exam will consist of six papers, out of which 04 papers will be compulsory and 02 papers will be optional. The first 04 papers viz. General English, General Hindi, General Studies and General Engineering Science will be objective. Two optional papers will be objective in nature, which will be different for civil, mechanical and electrical engineering. The papers of General English and General Hindi will be only qualifying, in which it will be mandatory to get minimum 30 marks in each, i.e. other papers will be evaluated only after getting the minimum prescribed marks in both the papers separately.

If the minimum marks are not obtained in General English and General Hindi papers then the candidature will not be considered.

Total marks (3+4+5+6) = 100+100+100+100=400

It will be mandatory for the unreserved category candidates to obtain minimum qualifying marks of 40%, 36.5% for backward class candidates, 34% for extremely backward class candidates and 32% for SC/ST, women and disabled candidates. Preference marks will be added only after obtaining the minimum qualifying marks prescribed for the written examination.

Steps to apply:

A. One Time Registration (OTR)

  • To apply online for various examinations of BPSC, it is mandatory to do One Time Registration (OTR) on the website of Bihar Public Service Commission https://bpsconline.bihar.gov.in.
  • For doing OTR, candidates have to click on the “New user Registration” button. The said OTR will be valid for all the advertisements published by the Commission in future.
  • OTR is not an application for any examination. It is only to collect information from the applicants and to provide a separate dashboard to each applicant to facilitate maintaining their profile.
  • Valid active email ID and mobile number is mandatory to do OTR. Check your email OTP in your email’s Inbox or Spam.
  • Candidates who wish to apply online for any examination advertised by BPSC will have to use the password given in OTR only.
  • More than one OTR registration is not allowed. This may result in rejection / cancellation of your application. Candidates who have already done One Time Registration (OTR) while applying through online portal, they should also ensure to complete the OTR process afresh on the new portal.

To access the online application dashboard, candidates should login on URL: https://bpsconline.bihar.gov.in/candidate/login using their mobile number/email ID and password created by the candidate.

Note:

  1. There will be no provision for change or correction in the name of the candidate, father’s name, mother’s name, gender, Aadhaar and date of birth filled in the OTR order.
  2. The applicant will be required to compulsorily upload the required documents to apply, which can be uploaded through Digilocker Account.

B. Instructions for Digilocker account:

  • With the completion of the OTR process, Digilocker’s Meri Pehchan Portal will open. Candidates who have a Digilocker account will have to sign in by giving consent of the Digilocker account to OAMS. If the applicant does not have a Digilocker account, he can create a Digilocker account by doing a new sign up and complete the further process by giving consent of Digilocker to OAMS.
  • If the applicant has already uploaded the documents on Digilocker and given access to OAMS, then he can directly link those documents to OAMS from there.
  • If the applicant does not wish to proceed through the Digilocker portal, the online application portal will open after clicking on the Back button of the browser. The further process will be completed by entering the login credentials on the online application portal.

C. Instructions for profile creation:

Profile creation has 6 steps. Details are given below.

  • Step 1: Personal Information
  • Step 2: Address Information
  • Step 3: Other Information
  • Step 4: Qualification Information
  • Step 5: Experience Information
  • Step 6: Upload Photo / Signature and Profile Lock

Step 1: Personal Information: In this step, the applicant has to fill some mandatory information, such as his caste and category details (UR, EWS, BC, EBC, SC and ST). The applicant has to give information related to any type of disability, sports details, ex-servicemen, NCC cadet, and government employee. Finally, the applicant has to click on the save button.

Step 2: Address Information: In this step, the applicant has to fill his permanent address, such as his address, state, district and pin code. Then the applicant has to provide the correspondence address. If the permanent address is the same as the correspondence address, then the applicant can click on same as above. Finally, the applicant has to click on the save button.

Step 3: Other Information: In this step, if there is any criminal proceedings or punishment details against the applicant, then it has to be filled. Finally, the applicant has to click on the save button.

Step 4: Qualification Information: In this step, the applicant has to enter the details of his educational qualification. The applicant can provide information from at least 10th to 12th onwards. In this step, educational qualification (choose from the option available in the drop-down), name of educational qualification, subject, state board / university, educational qualification status (Completed or Appearing). The date of passing the educational qualification, marks obtained in the attempt, total marks, percentage (according to the university where the applicant has studied), number of academic months, class or category, mode (Distance or Regular), compulsory subjects, optional subjects, seat or roll number and year of passing have to be mentioned. After filling the details of a qualification completely, make sure to save it by clicking on the Add button. Finally, the applicant has to click on the save button.

Step 5: Experience related information: In this step, if the applicant has any relevant work experience, then he has to click on Yes, otherwise click on No. If the applicant selects Yes, then the applicant has to enter the details of his work experience (current / previous), type of employment, department where he is / was working, name of the institution under the Government of Bihar, designation, grade pay, basic salary and from which date he is working. After filling the details of a work experience completely, make sure to save it by clicking on the Add button. Finally, the applicant has to click on the save button.

Step 6: Photo & Signature & Profile Lock: In this step applicant will need a webcam to capture their live photo. After that applicant will have to upload one English and one Hindi signature. Size of signature photo should not be more than 20kb and width should be between 150-220 pixels and height should be between 250-320 pixels. After that click on save button. Finally applicant will have to confirm that all information provided is correct by clicking on check-box and after that applicant will have to click on Submit and Lock Profile.

Note:

  1. After clicking on Lock Profile, only after the profile is locked, the list of active advertisements of the applicant will be visible in the New Advertisement Tab.
  2. If the applicant wants to edit/ update something in his profile then he can do it by going to My Account Tab and from the Update/Unlock Profile Tab. After clicking on the Update/Unlock Profile Tab, applicant will receive an OTP on the email and mobile number given by him, after filling which the applicant can edit/ update his profile. After editing/ updating, the profile has to be locked. Which is available in Step 6 Tab.
  3. After the profile is locked, if you apply for any advertisement, then there will be no correction/ change in any entry (Details) given in that advertisement.

D. Instructions for New Application

  • After the applicant’s profile is created, all the On-going/Active Advertisements will be visible in the New Application Tab, in which after clicking on the View button, you will complete the further process by clicking on Check Advertisement Criteria and complete the payment process by clicking on Submit & Pay Fees.
  • On completion of the Application Form and Payment process, after clicking on the My Account Tab, the Advertisements applied by the applicant will be visible, in whose Action Column, the options of Application Form Print, Cancel Application, Pay Now (if payment has not been made), Payment History will be available.
  • If there is any kind of error in the Application Form of any applicant, then they should cancel their application and ensure to fill the Application Form afresh.

Note: – No payment will be refunded after cancelling the Application Form.

The Commission will not be responsible for not strictly following the necessary (detailed) instructions for filling the online application and for any kind of error in the entry made by the candidate while filling the online application.

If any error is found while matching the information filled in the online application with the original certificate / mark sheet, the candidature will be cancelled.

  • Online fee will be deposited only after being satisfied with the name, date of birth, category, examination fee etc. of the candidate.
  • It will be the responsibility of the applicant to keep the E-mail Id and Mobile Number mentioned in the online application safe. They will keep it safe till the publication of the final result. While filling the online application, the candidate will have to enter his/her own working mobile number and E-mail ID. Under no circumstances will he/she enter the mobile number and E-mail ID of any other person.
  • The Commission will not be responsible for internet or banking disruptions. Therefore, candidates should not wait for the last dates and complete all the procedures before that.
  • While applying online, the candidate should ensure to upload his/her clear (good) photograph taken through Webcam.
  • The candidate should scan the signature in Hindi and English and upload it in the prescribed place in the online application. The candidate should be satisfied that the uploaded image of the signature in Hindi and English is clear.
  • The candidates willing to appear in this competitive examination are also instructed to keep four copies of the updated photograph with them, so that it can be submitted by them if required or when asked by the Commission.

E. My Account Tab

  • If an applicant wants to change his password, then the applicant can do so from the option available in My Account Tab.
  • If the applicant does not want to deposit the examination fee at that time, then the applicant can deposit the fee till the last date of application. At that time, the applicant has to go to My Account Tab, then there is an option to deposit the fee in that tab.
  • Any change made in the profile after filling the online application and downloading the hard copy will not be valid.
  • The Commission will not be responsible for any kind of internet interruption / wrong payment / unsuccessful payment (Unsuccessful Payment / Transaction Status Failure / Transaction Status Pending) in online payment and the candidate will not be given extra time for correction.
  • The applicant should also ensure that the Application Number, Application ID and Bar Code are mentioned on each page of the hard copy of the downloaded application. Even if any one of the Application Number, Application ID and Bar Code is not mentioned on the hard copy, the application will not be considered completely filled and the application will not be accepted.
  • Apart from this, all the certificates mentioned in the advertisement must be downloaded from the My Account Tab and the hard copy of the final filled online application must be kept safe. The Commission will be free to take a decision regarding the eligibility of candidates who do not comply with the above instructions.

Note– If the applicant has any complaint in filling the OTR and Application Form, then he can give its details in the Grievance Tab.

Important Instructions:

  • After submitting the final filled online application, the candidate will click on “My Account” Tab again, then on clicking on “View” option under “Action”, the option of Application Print will appear from where two copies of the filled application will be downloaded and printed. The copy of all certificates / documents related to the advertisement must be kept safe. The candidate will have to submit the said hard copy and all the related original certificates whenever asked by the Commission or as per requirement.
  • While filling the online application, the candidate will mention the date and number of certificate issue in front of each certificate mentioned in the list of enclosed certificates.
